Now Is Not A Good Time To Stop

Tough times never last, but tough people do.

What a crazy ride this year has been so far! For the past few weeks, it felt like being stuck in some empty space, just waiting for some clarity in life, for some directions for action, for a sign that something is changing. Uncertainty took over the areas in life where we’ve had control before and it feels wrong.

The traditional ways changed in a matter of days, causing us stress over the future. Personal development, growth, and dreams are probably the last thing on your mind now.

It’s in our nature to focus on more basic things during crisis situations. Whatever it is that ranks higher on Maslow’s pyramid can wait until you feel safe and sound again. The paralyzing fear of uncertainty mixed with survival instinct ruthlessly cuts off everything else.

But here is the thing — change is inevitable. Life will shake you hard every now and then whether you want it or not. You can’t control it. But what you can do is adapt and use the situation to your own advantage.

Just because it is happening now doesn’t mean that it won’t get better. If you look back on all the hardships that you’ve been through during your life, you’ll see that they don’t last forever. Or do you become more resilient and just don’t notice them anymore?

Instead of letting fear of uncertainty and unforeseeable future let you stick your head in the ground take time to reflect and think. Now is a good time for pausing, reorganization, restructuring, having a breath before moving on.

Look at all the progress that you’ve made. Is this bump on the road a good excuse to let it go?

I am not saying that it’s going to be easy. I’m not saying that you can’t do it your own way either. You can reach out of support, you can take a break, but don’t stop. It’s better to move slower than don’t move at all.

The difficult times put you at test. Now it is your chance to see what you are made of.

The challenges are not going anywhere. In fact, they make life more interesting. Just like playing a difficult level in a video game, you feel more accomplished when you defeat a boss. See the obstacles that appear on your way as a challenge, an opportunity to prove yourself and level up and not a reason to feel defeated.
