Now, Even Fox Is Too “Woke” for Anti-Trans Bigots!

Haters lose their shit because the rightwing network dares to follow NY state employee law.

They took on Anheuser Busch by branding American rednecks’ second favorite beer* as taboo. (*Bud Light has long trailed #1 Pabst Blue Ribbon in popularity with the boot-kickin’ sawdust set.)
Target employees are next to fall into bigoted boycott crosshairs, forcing stores to remove Pride merchandise from their shelves.
DeSantis continues to wage a hopeless crusade against Disney for opposing his “Don’t Say Gay” law.
Financial powerhouse BlackRock is being accused of “woke investing”

The extreme Right’s self-described “Anti-Woke” campaign to dehumanize and erase queer and trans folk, mock preferred pronouns, ban trans athletes, and obliterate the entire concept of gender identity continues, leaving a swath of destruction in its wake and setting the stage for more violence against an already increasingly marginalized community.

Homophobes and transphobes continue to stand vigilant, poised to call out and retaliate against any and every friendly corporate association with, support of, or compassionate for queer, trans, and/or non-binary folks.

The influencers a company sponsors, what products and services it makes available to everyday consumers, even the way a corporate entity treats its own employees are all subject to the wrath of this malevolent, woefully misinformed, torch-and-pitchfork mob.

Hard to believe…

The latest target of extreme right-wing condemnation and threatened boycott is truly surprising. Then again, ideologues (and brazen political opportunists) have an ugly habit of subjecting each other to purity tests. Recently, fringe right-wing Representatives and former peas in a pod of dumb-ass cruelty Margerie Taylor Greene and Lauren Boebert engaged in a public dust up over Boebert’s evident lack of loyalty to wannabe House Speaker and empty suit Kevin McCarthy.

This simple strategy is one political tribes have employed against one another for centuries. Casting doubt on a rival’s ideological purity enables one faction to position itself as the only true adherent to whatever dogma they claim to espouse. Cloaked in a guise of principle is a winner-takes-all game of one-ups-man-ship and self-righteous holier-than-thou-ism, geared to appeal to the grievances of a political party’s most radical base.

Once again, the Right is eating its own.

And — no surprise here — trans, and non-binary folks unwittingly find themselves as ammunition in a battle over who can out-hate the other.

Reportedly, a disgruntled Fox News employee — likely an associate of Tucker Carlson, or Carlson himself — leaked an employee policy handbook to the ultra-conservative Heritage Foundation’s media outlet, The Daily Signal. Signal writer Mary Margaret Olohan glommed onto this juicy info to expose Fox’s “woke” policies in her Monday morning piece.

Zack Beauchamp of Vox.com reported on Ms. Olohan’s piece thusly…

… (the) Fox’s employee handbook allows employees to use “bathrooms that align with their gender identity, rather than their biological sex,” permits them to “dress in alignment with their preferred gender,” and requires that their coworkers use “their preferred name and pronouns in the workplace.”

Oh, my fucking God! Fox News, the soapbox for election denialism, the platform for replacement theory rants actually allows its staff to be themselves? Tell me it ain’t so!

The expected outcry…

Of course, the backlash against Fox from anti-trans loudmouths like The Daily Wire’s Matt Walsh — he of the fascistic declaration “Transgenderism must be eradicated!” — has been vicious and unsparing.

Fox is, according to Walsh…

“… actively working to suppress conservative voices while promoting leftism in its most radical form…”

and, therefore…

“needs to get the full Bud Light treatment.”

One hopes Walsh is not suggesting that someone needs to take aim at Fox the way Kid Rock did at those innocent, helpless cases of lousy beer. (It would be tragic if Grampa got frisky and emptied the magazine of his semi-automatic long gun on the streets of Manhattan.)

In the network’s defense, Fox issued the following statement:

“FOX News Media is compliant with all Human Rights laws mandated by the cities and states in which we operate, including New York and California.”

Fox News Media is headquartered in New York, which prohibits any discrimination in the workplace on the basis of gender identity.

The point is this…

Unless a corporation demonstrates total, uncompromising intolerance for folks who openly identify as anything different from their sex assigned at birth — even if the corporation is in compliance with state law, as is Fox in this case — it will be labeled by these reprehensible, ignorant, mean-spirited opportunists as a “woke” sellout.
