Nightly Terror
A Kyrielle from Teach Me Tuesday
Dragon wings beat a steady drum Reminder of the pain to come Hands cover my ears, eyes shut tight The terror stalks my dreams at night
Wraiths overhead filling the room Harbingers of impending doom I brace my soul against their sight The terror stalks my dreams at night
Its steely claws scrape the sealed door No reprieve for me anymore I cover my head, out of sight The terror stalks my dreams at night
The smell of his skin, acrid sweat Anticipation haunts me yet Longing to run, fearing to fight The terror stalks my dreams at night
Screams echo through the castle halls Responding to their master’s calls I add my voice to his delight The terror stalks my dreams at night
