Noob Friendly Medium Publications to Get Published In
A curated list made in November 2019 showing publications on Medium that are more friendly towards new writers on Medium
The below post is a collection of newbie-friendly publications on Medium with information on how to apply and get published on them as a new writer.
I’ve been slowly crafting a strategy to start getting published (fingers crossed) and have found it a bit difficult to narrow down which publications I should focus on.
According to Smedian (a very useful companion platform to Medium), there are 10,243 publications on Medium! You guys have been a bit busy, eh?
Since nobody likes climbing over huge walls when there’s a hidden door around the corner, I thought I’d start building a collection of newbie-friendly publications on Medium.
If you see this list is missing any publications, please comment/PM me and I’ll update the post!
I hope these end up being useful for my fellow newbies out there! (and more greedily, to myself in the coming months 😬)
Newbie-friendly publications

Med Daily — 530 followers
“The Medium magazine where everyone is an editor.”
Created by T.S. Johnson, Med Daily is a fast-growing publication where any newbie author can be added as an editor. Go here to see how to join.

Writers’ Blokke — 120 followers
“The publication for writers and readers to create and read amazing content”
Created by Benny Lim, this publication is a similar author-editor focused publication. Just head over to the ‘Write For Us’ section and add a comment asking to join.

The Partnered Pen — 4,500 followers
“ MPP friends writing about life, love, and everything else in between together.”
Created by Kyrie Gray (I think? Someone please correct me if I’m wrong!). Another good example of an author-editor magazine.
However, it looks like its currently closed to new authors as I couldn’t find any information on joining. Perhaps it will open up again in the future though!

Live Your Life on Purpose — 6,600 followers
“ Get Purpose. Get Perspective. Get Passion.”
Created by Steve Spring as a source of inspirational stories about life. You can get added as a ‘writer’ by simply going here and commenting that you want to join. After being approved, you can simply add your next appropriate article to the magazine for review.
Note, this publication only accepts draft submissions.

Post-Grad Survival Guide — 20,000 followers
“ We’re confused twenty-somethings. We dish on our post-grad blues, successes, failures, and everyday life right here.”
Created by Tom Kuegler to curate helpful advice for those fresh grads of the world. You can apply to be a writer on this publication through a form on this page (read the brief instructions on the page first).

The Ascent — 76,000 followers
“A community of storytellers documenting the journey to happiness & fulfillment.”
Created by Steve Campbell and Melissa Berdine, The Ascent is an online magazine focused on self-improvement and life lessons. For those looking to join, head over here and submit the form.
Note, this publication only accepts draft submissions.
Extra Additions:
Muddyum — A decentralized author-editor publication with almost 1,000 followers. Thanks to Susan Brearley for the tip!
