New Partner Program eligibility criteria — Should you be worried?

Not sure?
Let me start by saying I’m 4–5 weeks into joining Medium, so my view may be tainted at this early stage. However, when I commit to something, I go balls deep into it, so I paid for the medium platform within 10 minutes of discovering it and do not regret this one little bit.
For one, it is not a lot of money, and two, it will help build the platform for people like myself, so if you are on the fence about joining or not, let me help you. Go for it!

New writers
If you are a brand-new writer, who is not currently in the Partner Program, then you have missed out. To qualify, you now need at least 100 followers and published at least one article.
Writing and publishing an article is not difficult; however, getting 100 followers is slightly more challenging, at least from my perspective.
I have recently joined a Facebook group called Medium Writing Academy, and I urge you to join this for great tips and advice. I hope this group, along with great written content, will take me to the 100 followers I need to continue my journey.
I have been given some great advice on gaining more followers; however, I don’t feel like I am qualified to give you guys any advice until I get a respectable amount myself.

New Writers who are already in the partner program
As a new writer currently in the Partner Program, I am worried that I will not be eligible when the new rules occur.
I need the same criteria as a new writer; however, I have a slightly easier take because I am already on the Partner Program.
I need to get 100 followers by December 31st, 2021, now that sounds simple, and I hope that it is, however in five weeks, I have five followers; if that trend continues, then I will only end up with 25 followers by that date, some 75% short of the target.
I have some great ideas on accelerating that number, so watch this space, and if you have a heart…. go on, follow me!

Writers I follow
A person I have recently followed, due to his great content, is Arnold Abraham. He has just published 100 articles and now has 303 followers, so I guess it must be that simple, all I need to do is publish a third of his articles, and I will get my 100 followers, right?
Well, that’s a lot of work, and of course, it is not that simple; I wish it were.
Another amazing person I have recently started following is Alexander Kant; I can only find one published article; however, that has gained 25 followers.
His publication was accepted by Writers Blokee, which is fantastic and no doubt has helped him with his following.
Please take some time to view these profiles and support your fellow Medium members.

My stats
Well, they are not great. I have 5 published articles and 5 followers. I have another four and a half months to publish another 95 articles; wish me luck.
My published pieces are very different, from hot tubs to writing about my novel about sex scenes, maybe I need to write less and concentrate on writing better content, or maybe I need to find a better subject to write about.
The real reason I have started to write is that I enjoy it, I find it relaxing at the end of a hard day’s work, and I also think I can add value to people’s lives.
Finding the right publication that will accept your work is difficult, which it should be.
I do understand publications probably have thousands of entries, and that makes it almost impossible to give individual feedback, so this is why I have been spending hours online trying to research how to become a better writer.

Established writers
Sinem Günel, another person I have recently started to follow, wow, her publications are outstanding, and I can see why she has established over 39,000 followers.
Her subjects are mainly about personal growth, which I can definitely connect to; as a dyslexic person who failed his English GCSE, I have worked hard all my life to establish decent written communication skills, and I am not there yet.
When I read Sinem Günel content, it inspired me to be a better person; she gives me goals that I want to achieve in life, so a massive shout out to Sinem for the great content you provide.

My summary
It appears content is the most important thing when you publish an article. Finding a publication that accepts your work is hard but worth the effort. Supporting other Medium members is also a very worthwhile exercise, but don’t do this for the sake of it. You will lose your credibility if you do.
Thank you for taking time out of your day to read this article, and I hope you come back soon.
