Never Look Within
Prompt #24 hometown

Suffocating in the comfort of the hunting ground of youth their eyes forever faced outward fixated on the goal.
You could always smell the blood of our family lines in the bottom of the cup.
They kept us close so measurement could line up to meet their expectations.
If you listened hard you could hear the traps snap shut before they could slay us with their words.
If you look back never look within.
NaPoWriMo is coming to a close and I’ve really enjoyed writing to these prompts. Only a few days left. Hope we’ll still be together.
I really appreciate your support — each and every one of you.
