Summary

The National Poetry Month Event organized by Shabd Aaweg Review invites writers to participate in a prompt-based poetry challenge for 2021, with the flexibility to contribute as they wish and the possibility of their work being featured and promoted across social media and in an e-book.

Abstract

The National Poetry Month Event for 2021, as announced by Shabd Aaweg Review, is an open invitation to poets and writers to engage with daily prompts throughout April. Participants are encouraged to write and share their poetry, with no strict rules on participation. Submissions should be concise, under 400 words, to facilitate sharing on social media platforms. Poets are asked to use specific tags when sharing their work on Twitter, Instagram, and Medium to ensure proper crediting and dissemination. The event promises to showcase a diverse range of poetic voices, with an emphasis on brevity and impact. After the event, an "Editor's Favourites" selection will be featured, and the possibility of these chosen works being compiled into an e-book is also mentioned. The event is seen as a way to heal through words during the second year of the pandemic, with the organizers eagerly awaiting the "magic of words" from the participants.

Opinions

  • The event emphasizes inclusivity, allowing writers to engage at their own pace and preference.
  • There is a strong focus on community and cross-promotion, with the use of tags and the encouragement to tag other writers.
  • The organizers value quality and conciseness, setting a 400-word limit to ensure poems can be effectively shared on social media.
  • The event is positioned as a healing endeavor, particularly relevant during the ongoing pandemic.
  • The potential for featured work and inclusion in an e-book serves as an incentive for high-quality submissions.
  • The organizers express enthusiasm and anticipation for the diverse poetic expressions that will emerge from the prompts.

“I think poetry should surprise by a fine excess, and not by singularity; it should strike the reader as a wording of his own highest thoughts, and appear almost a remembrance.” - John Keats

Sharing with you all the prompts for the National Poetry Month 2021. There is no rule — you can write for all the prompts, you can join midway, you can just write for the prompts which you love, or you can just be a reader and appreciate the words of other writers.

We would love to see your poetic colours on the page. It’s always a dream to see where the same words lead others.

Some nitty-gritties about the event:

▶️ Although there is no word limit for this poetry event, please make sure to keep it below 400 words, which would enable us to share it across all social media, properly. ▶️ The only tag which you need to use is #napowrimoshabdaaweg while sharing on Twitter and Instagram if you are there. ▶️ For medium writers, the mandatory tags are— literary impulse and napowrimoshabdaaweg. ▶️ The Medium Posts will go live as soon as we see them, after a quick check on the tags and any changes to be made (after discussion with the author). ▶️ Please also tag in any of your favourite writer(s) from Medium, to participate in this month-long event, whenever they wish to. This particular rule is non-mandatory, only tag if you want to. ▶️ We will be sharing and promoting all the submissions received on Medium, at our social media handles across Twitter and Instagram, so please do keep an eye on them, and follow to stay updated! ▶️ We have a plan to feature “Editor’s favourites” after the prompt event is over, where each Literary Impulse editor would feature their favourite poem(s) in a separate post, and possibly bundle these favourites in an e-book.

We kindly invite the below writers to send us their beautiful scribblings, if any of the above words manage to fascinate you. We are waiting with all the enthusiasm to read your imaginativeness in the form of words:
