Nature Tastes Best

Wise choices made by Simba

Simba knows I’ll open the door for her

and wait until she decides to go out. Or not.

I’ll always ask ‘Are you sure?’

and will give her the opportunity to reconsider her choice.

Perhaps she only wants to sniff the air outside the house.

Perhaps she only wants to check my willingness to be at her service.

I’ll wait and watch her and wait and wait.

Until she and I are both sure what she really wants.

Today the door was open all the time:

lovely Spring sunshine to enjoy.

Lovely Spring water to enjoy.

Simba knows what is best for her.

She doesn’t want the rain,

but what the rain brings, that’s what she wants.

Springwater is just the best.

Thank you for reading and admiring my sweet cat, Simba. This is my first cat story here on Medium. I’ve written some stories about silent support and self-care (this one has a lovely cat photo in it).

I think I’ll try to combine important human issues (as in making choices, self-esteem, and communication) with the stories about my four wise shelter cats. Occasionally I will bring in my late three sweet shelter rabbits.
