LIFE

Nature Knows No Good Or Bad

Just local circumstances. We live in a world of abundance. Flow is always good. Stagnation is when we die.

This bird is creating a good overview. Picture taken by author in South Africa.

Recently, I had a conversation with a friend. Strange to call him that because the conversation we had, was the first time we ever met. At a distance. We used skype for a great talk on our work and lives.

We connected for real and listened deeply.

And we flowed. Him often angry and flowing beautifully. Me just me with all the flow I had in me.

In the end, he thanked me that his anger was welcomed in our conversation. We handled it well. Both of us in our own, very diverse ways.

And it triggered the wish to write a story about good and bad. And our perceptions. And the way nature looks at the matter.

My friend and I are very different. And we are so the same…

Energy Flows in Pictures

Alan Rayner wrote a story about Nature’s view on good and bad. I entered the story via LinkedIn, where he wrote:

“Energy flows naturally from surplus (+ve) to deficit (-ve) and in the process co-creates the diversity of life on Earth fed mostly and ultimately by sunlight.

All life forms, as co-creations of positive and negative, are, at heart, centres of local deficit (receptive space) in need of this supply (energetic flux) in order to thrive. Human beings are no exception. We are all needful creatures and that does not make us weaklings. What does make us weaklings is deprivation of this supply through its diversion to centres of surplus. Such is the cancerous perversion of human cultures that regard ‘positive’ as ‘good’ and ‘negative’ as ‘bad’.

If ‘good’ = fulfilled need and ‘bad’ = unfulfilled need, then to feed ‘good’ at the expense of ‘bad’ will only exacerbate ‘bad’s’ sense of deprivation and desperation and ‘good’s’ greed for more than it needs.

In which case, ‘bad’ has a ‘good’ point to make, and needs to be heard, before it becomes extinct, bringing ‘good’ crashing down with it.”

— Alan Rayner

This is the full story.

What I love about it is the wisdom encompassing all. The seeds germinating. The fractals that form nature’s growth and scaling up. The eventual death and decay and feeding of the humus in the soil.

The humans in the picture. And the framing in time.

This is philosophy and truth embedded in pictures and visual images that are so inherent to Alan’s voice. My voice has more words. His is beautifully shown in images.

I love how he says:

“Don’t just stand there watching, so to speak, dive in! Swim the flux!” — Alan Rayner

We are different, Alan and I. And we are so the same…

Nature Knows No Good or Bad

My own wisdom in the matter comes from the Blue Economy. And economist E.F. Schumacher. And Satish Kumar, writer of the book ‘Soil, Soul, Society’.

And from permaculture design, natural gardening. And of course, from being in nature. Experiencing, feeling, and flowing.

Everything is connected.

So there just is no good or bad. Everything is valuable. Things that are perceived as bad, can be catalysts for change. And after the bad, something good emerges.

This goes for cultures and leaders. This goes for hurricanes and floods.

As humans, we look at things too narrowly. Too focused on our own interest in the matter. For me, personally, it goes pretty far. I might die. Yes. But for me, it does count what influence I might have had on the bigger picture during my life. I don’t measure impact. I just do and let go again.

And it also makes it small again because my loved ones are my priorities. Always. I walk my talk. I live a simple life without unnecessary luxury. I spend my time harvesting organic potatoes at a local farm. I participate in local projects to build a better future for my home-town.

Enjoying the life I lead is a big ingredient of my life. Love in a broad sense. Connection to my own intuition, to other humans, and to other species. Being fully alive every minute of the day.

I dive into the flow. No overthinking. I swim, I float, and I struggle.

I zoom out. And I zoom in again.

And I trust the people I meet on my way. It’s just the way I want to live. With my head, I want to understand the facts. With my heart, I know the truth. And in life, in nature, and in people I trust.

This is what I recently wrote about facts, truth, and trust. Even American politics can be a trigger for my writing. It can’t get any weirder…

Swim the Flux and Be Successful

I certainly realize that not all people will see it as eagle-eyed as I do. I’m Blue Resonant Night. That’s okay as well.

I’m not judging.

But I do tell you: go and dive into the flow! Swim the flux!

Nature knows no good or bad. Just local circumstances. So if we will make the finest impact possible on our own local circumstances and those of our loved ones, our lives will have been a great success!

Life can be as simple as that.
