Mystery Plants Intertwine in Artistic Installation on Neighbour’s Wall, While Orchids Stay in the Warm
and: ‘Caffeine Rules!’
I had to take this picture (above) of the two plants — they go so well together against a red brick wall. I’m not sure what they are, although the flower looks like some kind of nightshade. The variegated shrub might be Persicaria, but I’m not really convinced.

Oncidium orchid, also known as dancing ladies or butterfly orchid, is warm and toasty in my bay window.

Meanwhile, flowers are thinning out a bit because we had a (very) cold snap last week, but then it warmed up again, so everything is confused. Above left are the little hardy cyclamen that PupperJack likes so much. And, above right, are some richly coloured Salvia lingering on.

There are several cherry trees around the neighbourhood. At this time of year, in the right light, they look luminous.
They’re fab to look at but pretty soon the fruit will drop and cover the pavements and dogs’ paws will become caked in squashed cherries. Jeff-Dog and I learned this to our cost — it’s surprisingly difficult to clear a dog’s paws of this stuff. PupperJack and I avoid them.

The rain has arrived. There are floods everywhere. PupperJack still wants his amble even if it’s pouring and everything’s soggy but gets very antsy when I put him out into the back garden for a pee.
Instead of being about his business so he can come back in again, he argues about the need for it. Argues.

When I put this pic up on social media people assumed the slightly berserk light in doggo’s eyes was after having drunk the coffee. But, no, it was before.
It reflects my incapability of dealing with the world before I’ve soaked up enough caffeine.
