My Writing Space
at the dining room table

I love to see where other writers write. It inspires ideas for my writing area, which is currently a little lacking. I write at the dining room table — my laptop, pens, notebooks, day planner, and whatever book I happen to be reading at the moment, all within reach.
To my left are long windows that let in tons of sunlight and the back door where our dogs think they need to go every five minutes. We seriously need to consider a doggie door.
I face the kitchen/bar, and to my right is the living room, which makes for lots of distractions.
My favorite place to write is the study. When I started homeschooling my youngest son years ago, we worked at the dining room table together; this is where I do most of my writing. I became used to the bright, open space and the dogs needing constant supervision.
I still have the old desktop computer in there, but it doesn’t work.

One of these days, I will write in the study again, surrounded by my overflowing bookshelves, little trinkets that make me happy, photos of the family. I think a change of scenery is good for creativity, and I love the wood laminate floor and blast of cool air that invites me in whenever I open the double doors.

I also love how curious the cat is when she’s with me.
