My Weekly Trip Down the Medium Rabbit Hole #20

Five articles I really enjoyed this week. And, one of mine that didn’t make me feel ick.

I have no idea what happened to this week. In my head it’s still Tuesday, but here we are mooching into the weekend. Unless it really is Tuesday, and I’ve completely lost the plot….

Right, straight to it. Here are five reads I’ve really enjoyed this week.

Lora Straub Brocone — Seven ADHD Life Hacks Courtesy of a Neurodivergent Lady Who Is Still Alive

Lora is one of my favourite Medium writers. This one is a funny, yet kind of maybe just a bit of a serious read. She gives us some tips on how to make life easier if you have ADHD. I particularly like her shower idea though, at my age, I’m not sure I can multi-task that efficiently in a standing position without needing a hip replacement.

Marcia Abboud — How Songs Rekindle Lost Memories

Marcia is a fantastic storyteller. She can move you, make you think, make you laugh out loud and take you into her world. She is always a great read. Here, she talks about the impact music can have on your life and memories. If you’ve ever been transported back in time by hearing a song you haven’t heard for ages, then this one is for you.

S.M. Whiddon — Who is to Blame for School Shootings?

Stacey has written a really thoughtful and informative piece on school shootings here, both from her own perspective as a mother and in light of the recent Crumbly trial. Whatever your stance, you should give this a read.

Wesley van Peer — I Love My Kids, But Working from Home with Them Is a Nightmare

This story took me right back. As a work-at-home Mum, I spent years juggling looking after my son with trying to meet deadlines and not lose my sanity. I usually made the deadlines, but the state of my sanity is open to question. You’ll really relate to this if you’re a work-at-home parent. If you’re thinking of doing this, you’ll get an honest view of what it is really like.

Brendan Donaghy — My Bad Jokes Have Dealt Our Marriage a Knockout Blow!

Brendan is a very funny writer. This article is a joke — literally. Well, it’s a series of jokes. Great construct; very funny. Read it if you want a laugh.

Blowing my own trumpet

One of the reasons I hate promoting my own articles is the fact that I’m never quite sure if I like them after I publish them. They make me feel a bit ick.

But, I quite like this one. It’s been sitting in my drafts for ages as a serious piece. It didn’t work. So, I turned it into a humour story which works better.

Okey dokey. I’ve checked and it is actually Friday. So, enjoy the rest of your day and have a fantabulous weekend!
