My Top 3 — How to Write More Content and Get Seen

Photo by Austin Distel on Unsplash

If you’re not familiar with the Pareto Principle or the 80/20 rule, it states that 80% of your output or results come from just 20% of your inputs or activities. Named after Italian economist, Vilfredo Pareto, it was originally used to explain Italian distribution of wealth.

The 80/20 rule has since been proven many times over and has become a statistic that can be applied across many areas of life.

My post today focuses on two of the truly effective goals that will impact most of your results.

1.Write more valuable content in less time

2. Get your content seen by more people

Write more valuable content in less time

Brian Kurian gives several really concrete things you can do to get your writer’s brain on board so you can create more quality content. There’s no magic pill you can take that will make you a professional writer. Trust me, many have tried. It’s not just about pumping out more content either. You have to be able to provide content that is valuable to your audience.

I’ve been writing and studying how to write for a long time and these five things Brian talks about are definitely at the core of quality writing.

If you do these five things consistently, I’m willing to bet you’ll see a drastic increase in not just the quantity of content you produce but in engagement from your audience too!

You can read Brian’s article for the details but the five steps to remember are:

  • Brainstorm ideas daily
  • Reserve time to write everyday
  • Analyze conversations
  • Absorb more content
  • Find your tribe

Get your writing seen by more people

There are many things you can do to get your writing in front of people.

One that can be hugely effective is to learn SEO. A lot of SEO is about word choice and word placement. As writers, we naturally focus on word choice so it’s surprising just how many writers don’t use SEO. If you dread marketing your writing and if you don’t want to have to resort to sleazy sales tactics, then learning the basics of SEO is your answer.

I recently wrote an entire post about word choice in my post on how to choose keywords, but Rebecca Grant provides a great step by step guide to SEO for beginning bloggers.

Daryl Bruce is one of my favorite writers. His posts never fail to contain valuable nuggets of wisdom. In his post below, he provides some very concrete tips not just about using Facebook to promote your posts, but on how to use it strategically to promote your evergreen content too. He reminds us not to put all our eggs in one basket which is a really good rule to live by for all writers.
