INTERMITTENT FASTING, TRE, LOW CARB, KETO & OTHER WEIGHT LOSS METHODS
My Top 3 for Weight Loss
If you’re looking for a weight loss program to present to a doctor or nutritionist, here are three Medium weight loss articles to consider.

What Is the Top 3?
Top 3 is a publication where Medium writers support other Medium writers by promoting each other’s work. Medium members are encouraged to post three stories from other writers that they enjoyed reading.

Top 3 in Weight Loss
During the last week, I have been writing and reading about weight loss programs. I have read many articles from Medium writers, and since I write for the publication Top 3, I thought it would be an excellent idea to introduce you to three of my favorites.
Whether you’re reading for the entertainment value or you wish to take off a few pounds, there are several weight loss methods to choose from, such as intermittent fasting, the ten-hour eating restriction (TRE) method, the Mediterranean, low carb, or Keto lifestyles.
Some of these plans allow the user to mix methods to obtain optimal results. In this analysis, I will introduce you to the three I believe have the best results or most encouraging methods.
The Importance of Vitamin D & Sunlight
The World Health Organization (WHO) has made it abundantly clear that vitamin D supplements and that obtained directly from the sun is crucial to preventing respiratory infections.
In their article, Vitamin D for Prevention of Respiratory Tract Infections Doctor Aponte suggests that supplements and actual sunlight can help prevent respiratory infections. However, it is also pointed out that there is a worldwide vitamin D deficiency needed to boost mucosal defense.
Any lifestyle or diet change should consider how to incorporate sunlight (with proper protection from UV-ray overexposure) and supplements to increase your body’s immune system.
The Power of Fasting by Gabriela Rosales
In her article, Gabriela Rosales talks about her struggles with Insulin Resistance (IR) and eating addiction.
She starts her story at the movies with her family, which was remarkably familiar to me because this is my family’s favorite outing.
I, too, had an “oh, too familiar” problem with the big tub of buttered popcorn, the syrupy sweet soda pops, and all those mouth-watering candies. Until I discovered I had elevated A1C levels and needed to control my sugar and carb intakes.
She writes about the benefits of intermittent fasting and how it helped her with her food addiction. What I found particularly interesting was how she prepares her coffee or tea during fasting, she said,
“You can have some coffee or tea, whether you have them alone or mixed with butter and coconut oil (you can also use MCT oil). This is typically known as bulletproof coffee (or tea). If you are just starting with intermittent fasting, this will help.”
What’s more, she added, “…there’s an additional benefit: the power of knowing you can control your food intake as you desire. As a recovering food addict, I can tell you, this is a fantastic bonus.”
I’ll leave the rest to her:
My Strict Keto Diet Is Helping Me Through This by Alexandra Samuel
Alexandra Samuel is a Wall Street Journal (WSJ) and Medium contributor, author, freelance data journalist. She says she originally started Keto after her friends suggested it after she discussed losing the 46 pounds she had gained.
She revealed, “I never thought that two years later, I’d still be a freaky low-carber. The reason I’ve stayed with the ketogenic diet is because it’s transformed my mental well-being.”
She quotes Dr. Rif El-Mallakh, from Louisville, “Imagine living on the plains of Africa, before agriculture, food is hard to find and hard to get. For two or three or four days, you have nothing to eat, then you find something, or someone hunts something, and then you’ve got something to eat. Ketosis is not necessarily something weird we are creating. We are just creating a normal physiology.”

Half the Man I Used to Be by Steven Anthony
The most astonishing weight loss story I read on Medium was from Steven Anthony, who described his lost of almost half his body weight.
Yes, I already introduced Steven in another article, but I could not write a Top 3 on weight loss without including him.
He talks about, “By 2008 I had reached about 340 pounds. But I wasn’t done, yet. Two years and one divorce later, I had hit 365 pounds.”
He paraphrases what he heard Doctor Oz say, ‘By the time a person reaches 400 pounds, they never lose weight again because exercise is just too painful. So they will just continue to gain.’ “That got my attention. I was closer to 400 than I was to 300…”
After that, he joined Weight Watchers, had surgery for cancer, recovered, and later switched to his version of a low-carb/high-fat (LCHF) lifestyle on his descent to 192 pounds.
