My Surprising Earnings 11 Days Into May

WOW! I am so incredibly grateful.

In this article, I will share my very surprising May earnings thus far. I will also be sharing my Top 3 highest articles from this month.

NOTE: I was accepted into the partner program on April 18th, 2022. Last month, I posted my April earnings.

In said post, my earnings were a reflection of what I made across 10 days in April. If you read my article, you’d know I was pleasantly surprised. As I was fairly new to the platform, I assumed I’d earn no more than a dollar. And I was totally OK with that. Boy, was I wrong!

Within my first 10 days of being a part of the partner program in April, I wound up earning $23.63 (AUD).

I was ECSTATIC.

As a result, I had my hopes up for the month of May.

However, my primary goal was to continue to build authentic connections on this platform— with fellow writers and readers, such as yourself…

…Hence why I started a ‘Read for Read’ club, which I’m sure many of you are already familiar with. Especially if you’ve been following me for some time.

The intention of this club was to build an authentic community of readers.

My intent was to promote more engagement on this platform. To form relationships, and for all of us to… earn more money!

Because we all know that in order to earn money on this platform, Medium members need to READ your writing.

And I truly believed that forming a ‘Read for Read’ club would achieve this.

I mention all of the above, because… my belief is that this has been a monumental contributor to my May earnings that I’m about to share.

I spend quite some time organising the articles and lists. So all of the positive feedback many of you have provided me, makes it so incredibly worth it.

My May Earnings (11 Days In)

Anyway. This article isn’t about last month’s earnings. As depicted in the title, this article is about my earnings in May so far.

As I write this post, it is May 12th, 2022. I’d like to preface this article by saying, I’m not in this for the money. Yes. Money is nice. But ultimately, I write for joy. And I write to share. I feel like a broken record. I know I’ve said this many times.

But I don’t want to cloud people’s perception of me — that just because this is my second post on Medium about my earnings, I’m only in this for the money.

Not true!

If Medium stripped me of my earnings, I would still be reading, writing and engaging, just as much.

But it doesn’t hurt to have some extra $$ in my bank account by doing what I love. OK. Back to it. Sorry. I get side tracked easily.

This morning, I logged onto my account to check my earnings across the first 11 days of May.

When I saw the number, I nearly fell off my chair. Literally.

In the first 11 days of May, I earned 83.21 (USD). However, as mentioned in my April earnings post, I live in Australia.

Therefore, so far this month (11 days into May) I earned $120.98 (AUD).

I am in complete disbelief. I cannot believe I’ve reached the hundreds.

And I am so incredibly grateful for all of my readers. I value every single one of you.

You all know how much I value reading and engaging on this platform. Whenever I receive a thoughtful comment, I always visit their page and read their work.

Always. As such, I hope that you feel I am reciprocating your engagement too.

My only advice is… Make an effort to engage with others.

I spend up to 2 hours every single night reading and commenting on other people’s articles.

Because I genuinely enjoy it. And because I value forming authentic relationships.

I value reading. I value learning. And I value authenticity.

I will post an update on my earnings at the end of May. Let’s see what the remaining month will bring.
