My Sentimental Tryst With Crypto!
“Cryptocurrency is absolutely here to stay. If you can’t see that at this point, it’s time to learn more about it.”― Joel McLeod
In 2019, a friend tried to introduce me to cryptocurrency. The problem with his approach; he was rather sneaky about it. He did not try explaining the concept as best as he could. He was more interested in signing me up on his referral program. I show angst towards people I think are unjust or sneaky. No thanks to him. My intending relationship with cryptocurrency ended as quickly as it started.
After this encounter, a few other acquaintances tried to talk me into trading in Bitcoin. Because of my experience, I wasn’t so trusting. The second issue was that none of them tried to explain the concept to me. The latter reason was a major reason I wouldn’t venture into it. Third, there were just too many scams.
A trusted friend had tried introducing me again a few months back. Again, my scam antenna was up. I have talked a little about my knack for finance here and here. This interest caused me to follow a UK-based finance expert who talked about all things, money and investing. Between 2016 and 2019, his views on all things cryptocurrency were reserved. He told his students to thread with caution because it was something relatively unknown and untried. Of course, I listened.
Being a physician has earned me some perks. While in the line of duty, I met a guy very savvy in financial matters. Two months ago, and in a very serious tone, he told me to be wary of lots of financial ventures that were going on. He reminded me that the economy was terrible and people were desperate. Ethics were non-existent.
So, when you add some healthy skepticism and listen to what appears to be sound advice, you shy away from cryptocurrency. By the way, my friend in the previous paragraph got scammed.
Three weeks ago, one of my mentors called me. He is insanely wealthy. Guess what he wants to talk to me about? Cryptocurrency! He is very patient answering all my many questions. When he doesn’t have an answer, he refers me to resources that can help. Finally, he invests his money as my seed capital. Well, that gives me some serious push. After funding a burial, a wedding, and surgery, let’s see if this is what we need to bounce back financially. By the way, my scam antenna is still up!
