SPIRITUALITY

My Search For Spirituality

It led me to a startling discovery

Photo by Yaya Favela on Unsplash

I wandered through the forest Seeking spirit in the trees But all I found was silence And the sound of my own breath

I climbed the mountain Seeking spirit in the clouds But all I found was emptiness And the coldness of the air

I dove into the ocean Seeking spirit in the waves But all I found was darkness And the fear of drowning

I sat in the desert Seeking spirit in the sun But all I found was heat And an unbearable thirst

When I gave up my search Spirit found me — it was always within me In the silence, the emptiness The darkness, and the thirst

Spirit is the breath of life The sound of my own heart The light of my soul The love that binds us all

Spirit is the mystery of existence The answer to all our questions The key to our happiness The oneness of all things

The peace that transcends understanding The joy that knows no bounds The truth, the way, and the life It is all that we are, all that we will ever be

We often struggle in our quest for spirituality, look everywhere for it in the external world, and get frustrated when we can’t find it.

The moment we give up that search and turn inward, we find it is within us. Spirituality is something that’s already there; we don’t need to go looking for it. It is the breath of life, the beat of our hearts, the light of our soul. It is the love that holds us all together.

In life, most of the answers are within us, embedded deep in our conscious, waiting for us to discover them. We only have to pause long enough to slow down and begin searching.

And yet, spirituality is also a lifelong journey — where we discover who we are and our place in this universe. For me, it is all about connecting with something larger than myself — maybe a higher power, maybe nature.

Our spiritual journey is shaped by our experiences. Mine include my upbringing, my family, my travels, and my relationships. I have found that spirituality can take so many forms. It brings a sense of deep peace and purpose, giving me a framework for understanding myself and the world around me.

It brings me a connection with others at a deeper level, enhancing my sense of compassion, empathy, and forgiveness.

It adds a sense of awe and wonder to my life, urging me to appreciate the beauty of life, this world.

My spiritual journey is constantly evolving and I am grateful for the insights gained along the way.
