Morning Moments With Gabriella
The Perfect Morning Cup of Tea
For Tea Lovers Chai It Is — A Tea With A Story

The strong velvety morning tea with the combination of beautiful nature sounds in the morning is a perfect way to start my day.
One of my favorite morning beverages is chai tea. I started to drink chai tea again when I went out to the land for my vision quest a few months ago. They had a box of pre-mixed chai tea with spices and I was delighted to try it. Drinking the warm spicy beverage brought back a lot of memories of me working in the addiction care unit for about 10 years in Seattle, Washington.
Every afternoon when a lovely co-worker from India was there she made us chai tea with fresh cardamom seeds, black tea, cinnamon bark, milk, and sugar. I was looking forward to these delightful afternoons and the chai tea give us enough energy to finish our shift starting at 7 am and lasting until 7:30 in the evening. Then the one-and-a-half-hour drive home. The days were long and the tea was an added delight in the harsh working environment taking care of people with addictions.
I have not had chai tea before it is not something we used to drink when I grew up. I am very grateful to my co-worker for introducing me to this lovely drink and for making it for us every afternoon when she was working.
On and off I would have periods when I come back to chai tea and drink this delightful tea every day for a while.
I am now back to my chai tea moments. I have changed the recipe for the way I drink Chai depending on what sounds good in the morning.

This morning I chose Assam Black tea for my base tea for my chai. It is important to soak the black tea at least for 4–5 minutes to get desired strength.
You can use many different strong black tea for your Chai. Some of my favorites are loose-leaf Earl Grey tea, English breakfast tea, regular black tea, decaffeinated black tea, and any type of Earl Grey. You can use a bag of tea or loose tea, make it in a mug or cook it on a stove.

I added 5 different spices and honey to my tea. Depending on the morning I add more or less spice.
This morning I used all organic grounded ingredients:
☕Grounded cardamom
☕Grounded cinnamon
☕Grounded ginger
☕Grounded cloves
☕ Freshly ground black pepper
☕ Raw creamy honey
Using fresh cinnamon sticks and cardamom pods and cooking them together with black tea on the stove top gives the best version of the chai tea.

I added my tea and spices to my mug and let them emerge the flavors together for about 5 minutes then I added coconut milk to my tea, let it mix for a few minutes, and enjoyed the first sip out on the porch while listening to amazing bird sounds.
You can use any type of milk that you prefer or try different ones to see what milk you like best with your chai. Traditionally it is with regular cow milk since I can not digest milk I am missing the gene for it I try to use other milk like almond milk, and almond milk with toasted coconut or coconut milk.
I add the milk last and depending on how much milk I have how creamy the chai will get.

This morning I decided to record my surrounding and the beautiful bird songs that I was listening to while enjoying my morning chai tea. I uploaded the 3-minute little video with the amazing bird sounds and my surrounding nature.
I hope you will enjoy this little video and if you can close your eyes, sip your morning or afternoon beverage, and transport yourself to my calm morning surrounded by the love of nature.
