My review of ‘My Soul Rants’

Poems of a Born Spectator by Gurpreet Dhariwal

I have met Gurpreet Dhariwal through her writings on Medium. I am impressed by her prolific and soulful writings. Her pen and paintbrush are literally dancing on paper and parchment.

She is a multi-talented person, multi-lingual, a professional in many roles, a fabulous writer, poet, interviewer, reviewer, and truly kind-hearted person. In her words: ‘I find solace in words and interacting with genuine souls like each of you. There is goodness in this world and you all are showing me kindness exists.’

I respect her and I consider her no less than a sister for spreading positivity and being so generous. You can recognize the mark of a good writer because it is not only about her, but with her writings, in her interviews, and in her responses, she uplifts and coaches so many other writers and poets.

I was hugely impressed by her recently released poetry bundle My Soul Rants: Poems of a Born Spectator">‘My soul rants: Poems of a Born Spectator’, which is a beautiful tribute to her precious soul. You can find it on various platforms like Amazon Kindle and Google Books.

In ‘My Soul Rants’ you can tell that Gurpreet lays bare her soul’s journey from her soul ranting to her soul singing. Her words really hit right into my soul and with her soul’s journey turned into words, she not only touches my soul but the Soul of Poetry!

The soul is in my opinion not measured by the depth of the words used, but by the thing or the person that inspired her to write a poem or the intense feeling that was sparked in her that made her write a poem because of its beauty or sorrow. That is what makes her poems alive!

‘My Soul Rants’ takes you on an emotional journey, which at times made my heart jump, at times soar, but always aimed at uplifting you. My favorite poems are: ‘Now I won’t’, ‘Fears and wounds’, ‘Here I am’ and of course her last poem ‘My Soul Sings’, in which you can literally hear her soul singing. In her words: ‘this is not the end, my friend’ and I hope to read many more from this gifted poet!
