My Prediction About Schools During the Pandemic
Have I been accurate?
Introduction
I do not have any magical powers that enables me to mysteriously peak into the future to uncover great mysteries. While I have a close relationship with the Lord and am willing to follow Him when He guides me, I do not profess to be appointed as a prophet by God who shares His special messages to humanity. I am just a humble educator, family engagement influencer, and mom. Writing is a big part of what I do. The messages that I share are not flamboyant. My words are just straightforward.
As a writer primarily committed to advocating for increased family engagement in education, I write according to the passion that resides within my heart. I allow facts derived from reliable and valid sources of data to guide my words. Insight overshadows me as my perspective is honestly presented.
The number of cautionary articles that I have published in recent months related to schools reopening prematurely during the pandemic are far too many to count. Nonetheless, my opinion has been chronicled. I stand by my belief that the schools that reopened their doors for in-person learning and instruction will need to close again and resort to an online format as they did when the pandemic began. This is because covid-19 cases have been drastically surging.
I offer some of my collection of articles to prove how accurate my thinking has been. Most importantly, it is my hope that my words will encourage the need for decision makers to take heed and close the schools.
What’s Going On
The spread of the coronavirus has never slowed enough to eradicate its threat. There are many reasons why this reality has prevailed. Some predominant ones follow.
- A vaccine proven to be medically and scientifically effective has not been created and approved yet.
- A lot of people within the United States refuse to follow safety protocols that have the potential to slow the spread of the virus. They fail to socially distance themselves from others and they will not wear facial masks.
- A group of people have politicized the pandemic and have dismissed it as a hoax. Sadly, there has been a failure among these defiant disrupters to take covid-19 seriously.
- Many powerful entities have connected reopening schools to economic empowerment. They pushed for schools to open their doors again regardless of the safety risks.
- A lot of parents have been proponents of schools reopening because they believe that their children need the social interaction that the traditional school experience provides. Many parents experience work-related and personal time constraints. Simply stated, they rely on schools for basic child care.
- Many entities placed a greater significance on reopening businesses for economic purposes instead of placing safety procedures at a higher level of priority.
- Some members of our national society have followed the dismissive and reckless example of Donald Trump. They have adopted his persona by pretending that convid-19 either does not exist or that it is not as powerful as it really is. The president has failed the nation due to his failed disposition and position as it relates to the pandemic.
My Beliefs About Schools Reopening Prematurely
The most current data trends about covid-19 present extremely alarming news. The massive number of men, women, young people, and children who have died in the United States due to the pandemic is staggering. This news is somber.
Leaders and political officials along with members of the media literally pleading with the general public to take the necessary steps to control the spread of the virus. In fact, because of the intensity of concern that now exists, some areas of the country are now beginning to issue mandatory stay-at-home orders once again.
Just as I have predicted in many of my writings, schools have become areas where the virus has been raging. Just as I anticipated, they are now closing their doors once again.

Conclusion
We must unite as a nation to slow the spread of the covid-19. Following all the safety protocols that we are all keenly aware of with the highest degree of fidelity offers a huge solution to our health crisis. As I have documented in past writings and as I am doing in this article, closing the schools offers another powerful solution.
The reality of this critical need to keep students, teachers, and other school personnel out of buildings for in-person learning and instruction absolutely has to happen and it must happen right now.
