Pay Increased Each Month Percentage Wise!

I first joined medium in December based on a tip from an acquaintance at the gym I used to attend. Till then, I’d never heard of medium. I wrote my first article How Can YOU Prepare Your Body for Breakfast, which you can read HERE, and then I gradually wrote more. Subsequently, I started accumulating followers. By the time I accumulated 100 followers, it was February 2022. By then, I had already written around 4 or 5 articles. I took the usual steps to get followers. I commented on articles, followed others and also clapped on the articles I read. I discovered that one can give up to 50 claps; not just one clap. For those who don’t know, just hold the clap icon for a few seconds and voila, you’ll have given 50 claps in a matter of seconds.

I was finally allowed to join the Medium Partner Program in February. I applied and finally got approved a couple of days later. I even metered my articles, which I had written before I was allowed to join the Partner Program. I also learned how to choose the tags, relevant to my article, so that people who are interested in reading them, will see them, read, clap and also comment. I shared links of my articles on LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, and also on Instagram. There is a Friend Link you can copy and share so that people who don’t have a medium membership can read the article without subscribing, because they only get three free views and then they will have to join. I joined groups on LinkedIn and Facebook and posted the links related to those subjects. But as you can guess, people who read those articles were recorded by medium as External Views. Medium only pays you for Internal Views. Most of my readers were external. Nevertheless, it was to help make people aware that there is this website called Medium and they can join it. I even have a link on each article for them to become a member.

Obviously, one still has to still interact with fellow medium members and leave comments and also clap for their articles. It helps gain more followers and shows that you too are active. I also subscribe to some people’s articles and they do the same to mine.

I guess, everyone is dying to know how much I’ve made? Well, in February, I made 44 cents. In March, I made 48 Cents. So, an increase of 4%. However, in April, I made $2.20, which is 358% increase from March. Small amount compared to the amount others make on here, but if you look at the percentage increase, compared to the previous month, it is a lot. The article that gave me the most money was Other Victims of the Lincoln Assassination YOU Didn’t know About. For some reason, that article got more readers. I thought that Did You Know an Ancient Egyptian Romance Influenced a Modern Hollywood Romance? would get more readers, but I was wrong.

I don’t write articles everyday like others do, as I am very busy. I wish I had the time to do that. Those who read my articles, know that I write on topics, which require a lot of research like: history, environmental issues, health, and about life (hence my tagline, ‘Stories Inspired by Life’) and other subjects. I cannot write these articles in 30 minutes. If I want to write good quality articles, I need to take the time to research reliable sources and write articles with factual information. Because, as we all know, there are some readers who find even one mistake will have a field day pillorying you in the comments and making the whole article about that mistake. People are unfortunately mean and nasty like that. I guess it gives them some cheap thrill to do that. But they are who they are. From my experience, they are mostly middle-aged, but then they can be of any age group. So, to avoid giving them that cheap thrill at my expense, it is better to use reliable sources and write good quality articles.

I know the money I’ve made is not much, but at the end of the day, I love to write and also learn new things while researching on topics I love. Gradually, as I write more articles, and gain more followers, the money will increase, but more than that, it is the knowledge I’ve gained from researching and also by reading other people’s work is what I like the most. It is good to know that there are people who have similar and varying opinions and interests on the website.

I change the tags and also the headings of some articles every day. That helps get the articles to different categories and in front of some readers who will open and read them. Some even comment or clap. If they have learned something new from my article, they mention that in the comment. The article where I get the most comments from my readers about learning something new is Amaxophobia- The Fear of Driving. Of course, following more people is always good, as it will make you available to others. That is one thing that never stops. I think medium only lets you follow 50 a day from what I’ve read. But take advantage of that. And if making money is one of your goals, then add more followers and hopefully some will follow you back. Also, when others write articles giving advice on how to make your articles stand out, read them. What works for others may work for you or may not. Therefore, try and see for yourself.

Finally, if anyone figures out how to make their article go viral, please let everyone know. I’m sure they will become a billionaire overnight, if they can figure that one out. I’ve asked that question before and been told that nobody can predict that. I’ve read it depends on the title, content and tags. So, choose them wisely. Even on Twitter, a tweet can go viral depending on the content and the hashtags attached to the tweet. One day in the future, I hope I can write and tell you I’ve made more than $100, then $1000 and then $5000 in a month.
