My Parents - Day 5 of the Writing Challenge

A parent’s love is eternal and incomparable, and you can only understand once you become one yourself.

“You never know the love of your parents until you become one yourself.”

~Henry Ward Beecher

I heard that statement multiple times when I was younger, but I never really understood it completely.

Of course, I knew my parents loved me — they had to, right?

They were my parents. But I didn’t really understand what it meant to love someone unconditionally until I became a parent myself.

Now, don’t get me wrong.

I’m not saying that I didn’t love my parents before.

The actual realization dawned on me when I got married and moved to my husband’s home in another city.

I was suddenly away from the support system I had always known — my parents. And, even though I was an adult, I felt like a child again in a new and unfamiliar environment.

There were times when I would feel so lost and alone, but I never once felt like I couldn’t reach out to my parents for help.

They were always there for me, no matter what, just like they have been since the day I was born.

They always say that parenting is the hardest job in the world, and they’re absolutely right. No matter how much you think you know about parenting, there’s always something new to learn.

After having my own children, I realize that only parents can love you unselfishly and unconditionally. They are always there for you, no matter what. They sacrificed so much for their children and would do anything to make them happy.

My parents are the most amazing people I know.

I know that sounds clichéd, but it’s true.

When I was a kid, I remember my dad helped me with my homework. He always encouraged me to write and express myself. He would read my writings and give me constructive feedback and prize money. I also loved sports especially running, and my dad always accompanied me to the park to play or run.

Because of that, I won many races in school. My Parents were always so proud of me, telling everyone about my accomplishments.

They sent me to one of the best universities in my country, and later my dad helped me get my internship and job.

My mom, on the other hand, is a fantastic cook. She always ensured that we had a home-cooked meal every day, no matter how busy she was. Later after the birth of my children, She brought me back to her place, cooked for me, and helped me take care of my children so I could get some sleep.

So Ammi and Baba, thank you for always being there for me and always putting me first. I love you both and am grateful for everything you have done for me. I would not be the person I am today without your love and support. You are my rock, and I love you both so much!

If your parents are still alive, thank them for everything they’ve done for you. Tell them you love them, and be grateful for everything they’ve done for you.

Excited to share my work with you! I hope it provides some helpful insights. Follow me to keep up with new posts.
