Summary

Christina Piccoli has updated her newsletter goals, achieving four out of six objectives, including acquiring premium ConvertKit, creating a welcome email, setting up a lead magnet, and designing a promotional image for Twitter, while deferring Sparkloop signup and auto-newsletter message creation due to costs and technical issues, respectively.

Abstract

In a recent update, Christina Piccoli shares her progress on the newsletter growth goals she previously outlined. She successfully accomplished four of the six goals she set for herself. These included upgrading to the premium version of ConvertKit during a Black Friday sale, crafting a welcome email for new subscribers, setting up an ebook as a lead magnet on Gumroad (though not yet promoted), and creating a promotional image for her newsletter which she has used on Twitter and other platforms. The two goals not met were signing up for Sparkloop, due to its $99 monthly fee, and setting up an auto-newsletter message for her posts, which was delayed due to caching issues with the old newsletter image. Additionally, Christina has experimented with other strategies to grow her newsletter, such as creating a step-by-step guide for starting a mini newsletter, updating her Medium About page, and pinning her newsletter image to her social media profile. She has observed an increase in profile clicks after teasing her newsletter on social media and plans to continue exploring new methods to expand her audience.

  • Christina is committed to sharing her experiences, both successful and unsuccessful, to assist others in growing their online income.

My Newsletter Goals Update — See What I Accomplished (And What I Didn’t.)

4 out of 6 goals accomplished, plus new ideas to share…

Image created by the author.

In this article, I mentioned 6 simple ways to grow a newsletter.

In case you don’t feel like reading that one, here’s the short and sweet version:

  1. Get the premium version of ConvertKit.
  2. Create a welcome email.
  3. Sign up for Sparkloop.
  4. Set up a lead magnet.
  5. Create an image to promote my newsletter on Twitter/X.
  6. Create an auto-newsletter message for some of my X posts.

Did I accomplish all of these?

Nope!

Not all of them. But I did accomplish most. I’ll give you an update on each one next.

Plus, I had a few other ideas to try, and I’ll tell you about those right after. Maybe you can use them, too.

Premium version of ConvertKit — I took advantage of ConvertKit’s Black Friday sale and got a discounted price for a yearly membership.

Create a welcome email — I was able to do this after getting Premium ConvertKit.

Sign up for Sparkloop — I didn’t realize it’s $99 / month to join. This one will have to wait.

✅ Set up a lead magnet — I set up my ebook, The 4-Step Affiliate Marketing System on Gumroad. But I haven’t promoted it yet. I’m thinking of creating some other lead magnets to use instead.

Create an image to promote my newsletter on Twitter/X. Here’s what it looks like:

Create an auto-newsletter message for some of my X posts. This is where you can promote your newsletter image automatically after some of your posts. The reason I haven’t done this is because X is still caching an old newsletter image. I need to wait for it to refresh.

I’ve done a couple of other things to experiment with growing my newsletter:

  1. Created this step-by-step how-to Mini Newsletter guide. This helps other creators start their own newsletters while promoting my own.
  2. Updated my Medium About page. I added the above promo image and link (along with some tidbits about me).
  3. Pinned my newsletter image to my X profile. You can see it here.

4. Teased my newsletter on X. This is a strategy I’ll be experimenting with more in the future. I had more profile clicks than normal after posting this.

I’m still small potatoes around here, but seeds have been planted and now things are starting to sprout.

If I come up with more ideas, I will let you know! I love sharing what’s working (and what’s not) to help you boost your own online income.
