The website content is a reflective and inspiring narrative by Jan Sebastian, a writer and stroke survivor, who encourages fellow Medium writers to embrace the impact of their work, share their experiences, and connect with each other through their writing on the platform.
Abstract
Jan Sebastian, the author, invites Medium writers to join her on a metaphorical journey, emphasizing the interconnectedness of writers across the globe through their shared atmosphere and the digital reach of their writing. She recounts her personal experience with a TV show and how it inspired her to believe her work could transcend Earth and reach other civilizations. The narrative transitions to the importance of Medium as a platform for writers to express themselves and make a difference, despite initial doubts and fears. Jan joined Medium after her son's success on the platform, and she encourages others to remember their first published piece and share it with the community. She also shares her own first piece, "An addiction called golf," and expresses pride in her achievements despite the challenges she faces due to a stroke. Jan's message is one of resilience, community, and the transformative power of writing, as she continues to support and inspire others through her work and personal quest to earn $500 a month from her writing.

My Medium friends, take my hand, and let’s take a trip together.
Right now. You are sitting at your computer as I am at mine.
Maybe we are on the other side of the planet from each other, but we are so close right here and right now.
Just breathe in and so will I. We share oxygen inside this atmosphere.
So breathe now, and so will I.
I feel it. So do you. I know. This is a beautiful moment.
Most of us are writers that are trying to make a difference in the universe, so surprise, you have. We have.
You are changing me right this very second,
The universe seems so vast when in fact it is very tiny.
Your writing is now traveling all over the place right now. Through net for sure.
Maybe being sent through satellites or stored in clouds, but your work is out there even more than you can imagine.
I had a TV show that aired on many stations in the U.S. and Canada. Every week we completed a show and sent the master to a satellite company which would send it by satellite to each station.
In my mind, I want to think, Real Life 101, my show is drifting through space and may someday reach being from other planets. My fluffy dreams.
So take a mental vacation with me and just imagine, maybe your writing will reach further than you ever thought of.
So why Medium? How and why?
I am proud of us. Because we had a notion and got brave. Who would read our stuff? That crap stopped me dead in my tracks. I joined because my son started writing on Medium.
I could not walk or talk and broke was as a joke, but at $5 a month, I decided to live on the wild side.
He is kicking ass on Medium!
So I thought, “What if?” So I wrote.
Do you remember the moment when you first published your first piece?. What was the piece?
Just stroll with me. Comment and send a link to your first piece. It would be a fun walk down memory lane.
I read every comment and then go to your Medium and read one of your pieces and highlight or comment.
I had a stroke so I am disabled and am kicking major ass.…well in some ways. I can’t walk or talk well but I’m a writing MO-FO! Kickin’ serious BUTT 100%!
This is my silly stroke therapy video. The focus on my face is hilarious! A crazy-ass redhead who is not at all normal and proud of it.
I love people and love helping them. Unconventional seems right. Fearless and focused. WE GOT THIS!
