My Medium Account Got Suspended
A complete case study for people whose medium accounts are being suspended.
Medium is one of my favourite platforms to express my feelings in words. A platform that has abundant resources for every age group, business, student etc.
Like others, I was also working hard to produce good content for my platform and monetize that for some pocket income. My medium account was doing absolutely awesome and even last month I made $60+ which was my career highest on medium.

My current month target was to reach $100 and break my own record but my dream got shattered within a few seconds.
I was really surprised to find myself in a situation that words can’t define. While browsing through the mail I suddenly found a mail that says that my account is under investigation due to medium guideline issues. You can check the screenshot of that.

I checked the account on a different browser and I found an error of 410.

I browse through the internet and connect with other digital marketing experts and blogger friends but I couldn’t find any proper answer for this suspension issue.
Then I carefully went through the mail and I found the reason then and there. The reason for the investigation was that medium.com found a couple of duplicate content on my profile which is against the medium rules and guidelines.

Now, the point is how can I find that my account has duplicate content?
To solve this issue, I started scrolling down the entire profile. I started checking each story title, body content and so.
Surprisingly I found one article which was posted by me on my medium id, somewhere in the month of March and I found the same content with the same image is published on some other site. The publishing date of this news article was somewhere around May 2022.

Since it was completely fresh content produced by me but since my account was on verge of suspension so I deleted the content from my profile.
After this, I requested again the medium support team to review my account and help me to regain my medium account.
How can things go so easy with me as I never received anything without struggle? I was too sad and was not able to decide what to do further?
Thanks to the medium team, who helped me with a screenshot of content which was still there on my profile. Honestly, speaking Medium algorithm is so damn strong that each and every phrase or paragraph found copied then your account will receive an account investigation message.
The medium took my comments as plagiarized content, which you can find in the below screenshot.

Without waiting I started deleting all those comments which were identical in any so cause. After removing those, I mailed them back to medium. I was really in bad shape as I didn’t know whether my account will retrieve from the investigation or not?

After a couple of hours, medium replied to my mail with a message that your account is now fully active and now you can post content, read as well as comment.
Lessons to learn:
- Always check the plagiarism of your content. Check after a couple of months and see whether your contents are found copied or not. If you find copied then immediately take action.
- Never copy-paste your own comment while browsing through stories. This might create serious trouble for you.
- Never lose your patience and be humble with your approach. This humbleness has paid me off.
If you’d like to support me and my writing, please consider becoming a Medium member using my link. For $5 a month, you will have unlimited access to my stories and of others, and I’ll earn a small commission too.
