My Love Waits Over The Hills And Far Away

Led Zeppelin song title fiction

Carlos Bastias

I found a copy of Moby Dick in a field Over The Hills And Far Away. In the back of it was an advertisement for a Stairway To Heaven. I was a little Dazed And Confused, but I figured it was just a scam. I decided I would be better off Going To California to see The Ocean.

I called my girlfriend and said, “Babe, I’m Gonna Leave You.”

“Why?” she asked. She was never one to Ramble On.

“We’ve had Good Times, Bad Times, and everything in between. But we suffer from a Communication Breakdown,” I replied.

“Really? After I gave you All Of My Love?” she said angrily and then hung up.

I tried to leave, but a Black Dog blocked my path and gave No Quarter. I thought, Hey, Hey What Can I Do? I picked up Four Sticks and threw them. The dog chased them, and I ran like a Fool In The Rain.

I made it to the airport. It was In The Evening, so it was a Night Flight. When I finally made it Down By The Seaside, dawn was breaking. It was a real Celebration Day.

After spending a week at the beach, I walked into town and passed a couple Houses Of the Holy. I started thinking about my ex-girlfriend. Where have Ten Years Gone? I wondered. Perhaps I was hasty, I thought.

So I called her and said, “I Can’t Quit You, Baby. I was wrong. It’s Nobody’s Fault But Mine. Can you forgive me?”

She said, “Yes, I forgive you, Heartbreaker. I miss you, and I am tired of Tea For One.”

I said,You deserve A Whole Lot Of Love.”

She said, “Thank You. I will be there soon.

We spend the summer living near the beach, playing Rock And Roll on the radio. Those were great Dancing Days.

One day, my girlfriend looked at me and said, “You know what? People change, but The Song Remains The Same.”

My score: 332 words divided by 31 song references equals 10.7 words per reference. The lower the score, the better.
