Summary

JS, an eleven-year-old who has never played Dungeons and Dragons, expresses his enthusiasm and fascination for the game through a poem, despite his lack of direct experience with it.

Abstract

JS, the son of Adam Deitsch, has developed a keen interest in Dungeons and Dragons, spending hours researching its lore, rules, and concepts, and even creating his own campaign. His poem "My Love for D&D" reflects his excitement and imagination about the game, where he humorously incorporates Lo Mein noodles as a recurring theme, though he clarifies that the poem is not actually about the noodles. JS's newfound obsession with D&D is highlighted by his mother, who notes that his passion for the game emerged simultaneously with his preference for Lo Mein during a family dinner. The website also provides links to other poems by JS, inviting readers to explore more of his work, including his first chapter in an ongoing adventure series.

  • The poem and accompanying text convey a sense of humor and creativity, as JS playfully weaves Lo Mein into his D&D fantasies.
  • JS's mother shares an anecdote about his recent love for Lo Mein, indicating a possible influence on the poem's content.
  • The website encourages readers to engage with JS's other literary works, suggesting that his D&D-themed poem is part of a broader pattern of creative writing.

My Love for D&D

Why I can’t wait to play Dungeons and Dragons

I may have never played it But the thought makes me fidget I think it sounds so cool To fight water monsters in a pool (Maybe even Lo Mein Could be their bane)

It sounds awesome as a DM (Could be me, hem hem) When I am one There should be a horse to tame With only Lo Mein

If I was a player, I’d probably be a druid Although not one super rude Cause he’ll eat Lo Mein Without any shame

So despite the fact, That I have never ever played it This is why I know by all my name That I love D&D (By the way, this poem has nothing to with Lo Mein)

Written by JS

JS is Adam Deitsch’s eleven-year-old son — who has never played Dungeons and Dragons, but has recently become obsessed with it. He’s spent hours in the last few weeks reading about the entire mythology, rules, and concepts, and designing his own campaign. He also decided Lo Mein is his favorite noodle during dinner the night before this poem was written. That may have shown through in the writing.
