My Ideal Location

The great outdoor vacation is calling my name

I have always had a love, and I will go so far as to say need to travel. Yes, my soul thrives on travel. Sometimes, a short day trip will suffice; other times, I need a weekend getaway. Occasionally, I indulge in a week or ten-day trip. I love both mountains and water. But, my very favorite destination has become the lower Florida Keys.

Why the Lower Florida Keys?

It is so much more than just a party in Key West. There are lesser-known Keys that are fantastic and offer farmers markets and all sorts of amazing things. Big Pine and Cudjoe Key are just a twenty-minute drive north of Key West. Marathon is forty minutes north of Key West and offers great dining and local attractions.

The water is warm. It is so peaceful on a boat or out on the sandbars. All the stress of life melts away. There is something about the saltwater and the sun. I sleep like a baby at night. It is just the best.

Final Thoughts

The Lower Keys are paradise to me. It is easy to get there, and I am not left feeling like I need a vacation from my vacation. Do keep in mind hurricane season is from August through November. It is not that bad, but it is something to keep an eye on.

You can rent a boat, but the water is extremely shallow in many areas, so I recommend you take a charter to get to sandbars and islands like Marvin Key and Picnic Island. It is well worth leaving the mainland. There are two wonderful beaches: Bahia Honda, on Bahia Key and Sombrero, in Marathon.

Thank you Sahil Patel for this amazing prompt: Your Ideal Location in The Great Outdoors. I was going every three weeks for at least six months. I had planned to move and was under contract on a house there when my life took a sudden turn. But the universe has a way of winking and letting us know that there are other plans for us. So, I will visit again someday. For now I am extremely happy in Arizona.

Thank you so much for reading. I hope you enjoyed. Please comment and tell me your favorite spot and if you have been to the Lower Keys.

Peace & Light,

Libby
