My Healthy Grocery Haul For 1st Quarter

As I was doing my grocery shopping for February, I noticed a couple of things.
Click on link to read that article (Link).
I noticed that some of the healthy foods was a little of my budget at Walmart.
A big bag of cod fish was around $20.
That was insane for me.
Eating healthy is not cheap.
I also noticed that frozen fruit was selling out quickly.
I knew I had stock up on that from another source (so I wouldn’t be without it).
I decided to do a stockup for the next few months (so I wouldn’t be stressed out about prices and low inventory).
I gave myself $300 to spend.
Let’s see how I did.
What I Got
I started out at Aldi.
I got frozen fruit, meat, deli turkey, produce bags, cereal, and snacks.
The frozen fruit and deli turkey is cheaper than Walmart.
However, the other items were around the same or more than Walmart.
I spent $123 at that store.
Here is what I got:

The next day, I went to my local grocery outlet.
I bought frozen fruit, canned meat, snacks, meal accessories, and frozen meat.
The frozen fruit is way cheaper than Walmart.
I spent $68 at that store.
Next, I went to Save A Lot.
They didn’t have a lot of healthy options there.
I got canned pineapple, pretzels, frozen fish, and deli style chicken meat.
I spent $25 at that store.
I went to Dollar Tree after that.
I stocked up on frozen fruits and vegetables at that store.
I spent $12 at that store.
I spent the rest of my money at Ingles.
I bought a giant turkey breast, canned meat, whole grain pasta, and frozen fruit.
I spent $68 at that store.
Here is what I got from those four stores:

I spent a total of $296.
I had $4 leftover.
The Best Deals
- Frozen Fruit was $1 per 12 ounce bag at the grocery outlet.
- Organic Sea Salt Multigrain Tortilla chips were $1 per bag at the grocery outlet.
- Fajita Seasoning Mix was 34 cents at the grocery outlet.
- Plant Based Pasta Sauce was $1.79 per jar at the grocery outlet.
- Value Pack Bag of Cod was $11.19 at Aldi (Walmart’s is almost $20).
- Deli Turkey meat was $4.19 per 1 pound container at Aldi (cheaper than Walmart).
- Turkey Breast was $1.97 per pound at Ingles (better than Walmart).
- Mueller’s Whole Grain Elbow Pasta was 98 cents per box (better than Walmart).
Overall
I found some good deals.
However, not everything was better priced than what I would have bought at Walmart.
I need to do a better job comparing prices next time.
I won’t be shopping at Save A Lot (unless they have healthy meat on sale).
Thankfully, I have enough frozen fruit (where I won’t stress out about it if Walmart doesn’t have enough in stock).
I’m happy that I stayed within budget.
I will start paying more attention to other items Walmart easily runs out of (and put them on my future stockpile list).
