My Favorite Holiday Garnishes, That Always Make Me Happy
Fruit and creativity
I love good food and I admire all people who can create something tasty and beautiful, with simple ingredients. I find them so so brilliant! I always wish I can learn from them and become better at cooking.
A talented person who is gifted in the art of cooking is my friend Trista Signe Ainsworth, who, in a difficult moment of her life, found new energy making meringue sculptures! She writes that her creativity helped her recover her lost confidence. You can read the details in her great article.
She also advises us to “break the mold and create something” to share with the world. Since I decided to leave fear behind and become a braver woman, I am going to write my special recipe, no matter the outcome!
I am not a good cook, but there is something which always makes me laugh because it is simple and a little stupid. Fun actually. I discovered it during my holiday in Jamaica, I don’t know if it is typical of the area I visited, or just an idea of the restaurant cook.
Here it is. Take a mandarin, cut the peel into slices but don’t remove them. Fold them, open the center of the fruit a little, put a candle inside, light the candle. Now you have a bright and new centerpiece. It takes 2 minutes!

For those of you who are better than me at cooking, I will add this other vegetable garnish, that you can put on a little plate or together with the fruit you are serving. If you love animals — like me, here is a special swan you can make with apple slices!

There you go, fast, fun and easy. A little humor to brighten your day!
Life is so beautiful sometimes!
