My Experienced Inside The PET Scan

To find out tumors in other parts of the body

I have diagnosed with MALT B-cell Lymphoma and the tumor was inside the right breast. Thankfully it is not breast cancer.

You may ask me how this happen?

I’ve written an article that can explain and you may like to read it first.

The lump was removed and I was diagnosed with MALT B-cell lymphoma. My Haematology doctor explains that MALT Lymphoma is treatable with Radiotherapy, chemotherapy, and Targetted Therapy. Depending on how severe the tumor.

But before the procedure takes place, the doctor needs to find out if I have a tumor in other areas.

PET (Positron Emission Tomography) Procedure

6 Hours Of Fasting before the PET Scan

You must fast 6 hours before the procedure. During this time, you are only allowed to drink plain water.

The Preparation Prior to PET Scan

The nurses check sugar levels prior to the scan. I was injected with an IV needle where the nurse could inject a liquid called a Contrast tracer.

Thirty minutes had passed, I was placed into a Machine to undergo PET Scan.

(What you see on the above image is exactly what was used to scan my entire body).

I was lying flat, face up with my head on the tail of the scanner instead of head first.

The operator was a Filipino man and was gentle, he closes the room and left.

As the cabin-like or chamber machine starts the engine, I saw a red light that hits on my feet as I was being slid to the chamber. (I can open my eye and see).

I was covered with a blanket. The operator told me not to move during this process. My hand was placed on the side straight to my thighs.

Every few seconds or so, my body moves section by section until it reaches my head.

The sounds of the scanner are like a tumble dryer in my ears. Zoom! Zoom! Zoom sounds keep rotating around my head.

The process wasn’t painful. Nothing touches your skin or anything like it.

It took about 20 minutes to scan the whole little body of mine.

The next day, I went back to the clinic, good news was that I have no other tumors. What a relief! I am thankful to God I said.

My doctor told me that I am in super good shape that is all over me. That’s awesome!

Since there is no other tumor, all I need is to undergo 10 times Radio Therapy or drug injections for the next 3 weeks, one time per week.

The treatment is to kill traces of any leftovers around the surgery area where the tumor was removed in the previous weeks.

Trust me, I believed in technology, but I said to my doctor, I like to wait and see. I do not want to proceed with any of the Radio Therapy and drug therapy.

I have had so much stress in the last months. I like to rest and will upside down my diet again such as not eating food that can cause or feed tumor to grow.

I believed that food is one of the best medicine.

Since my whole body is basically in good shape aside from that bastard tumor then I shall change my diet, and keep exercising, to stay lean as possible.

Thank you all for your support and prayers. Kyomi O'Connor Josephine Crispin Krishh Yana Bostongirl John Villablanca Thank you
