My Daughter is the Best Teacher I Have Ever Had
I am a better person because of you
Being pregnant has been the greatest blessing and gift I could have been given. I have been thankful and grateful each and every day, even when I was feeling sick, uncomfortable, tired, swollen, and achy all over. I know this is a gift that not everyone is given so I am enjoying and embracing each day.
This little girl has taught me so much already without even being born.
Communication
Unspoken communication is now present between her and me. She feels everything I feel whether it is happiness, sadness, stress, joy, excitement, love, pain, and everything in between. Sometimes I even feel like she even knows what I am thinking.
I could be in a situation where I start to feel stressed, anxious, or nervous and at the exact right moment she will give me a kick to let me know she is there with me and for me. It could instantly bring a tear to my eye. That is how powerful that feeling is for me.
She lets me know when she is hungry and when she is excited. Before going on maternity leave, every day when I would drive home from work she would start kicking and moving as if she was doing a dance.
She was letting me know she was excited to get home and hear daddy’s voice. She also loves to communicate with her daddy by playing with him every evening. He places his hand on my belly, she knows it’s him and almost instantly will start moving and kicking. Communicating with her in every way, shape and form has been an incredible gift.
Patience
I have learned about patience through a new lens because of her. She grows for 9 months inside me. That’s a long time to wait! You have to have patience and slow down to enjoy each day because it goes by quicker than you might think and it doesn’t last forever. I cherish these days I have with her inside me.
Trust
Trust takes on a new meaning for me since being pregnant. I am her lifeline. I know she trusts me to take care of her, love her, soothe her, make her feel safe. I trust in her as well. I know she will let me know if something is wrong. I will feel it. I have peace knowing my trust in her is so strong and I do not doubt her.
A New Type of Love
The love I, as a mother, have for my daughter is one that isn’t able to be described in words, only felt within. I know she felt my love starting the day she was conceived and every single day since. I too have felt her love since before I saw the positive pregnancy test. I felt her presence. A whole new area has opened up in my heart and it’s love for my little girl, a one-of-a-kind love.
A Big Thank You
Thank you baby girl for teaching mommy so much these past 9 plus months. You are an incredible teacher and I will never forget what you have taught me. I love you forever and always.
