My Curated Story Got Only 12 Views. I Don’t Understand Why

It’s hard to keep going when your hard work does not produce the expected results

I wrote a story almost a week ago. My story got published on May 21. Here is the story if you want to read it:

After a couple of hours, I found that my story got curated. I was elated and felt happy. I thought that my story would do good.

It’s been 8 days since I published the story and here are the results:

Only 12 views, that’s it.

It’s really disappointing to see this result. I was expecting more than 100 views at least.

I usually get 20 to 40 views on my stories without the curation. What’s the point of curation then.

When I joined Medium, I read a lot of articles about curation. People were talking about how curation could make you successful. People told me you need curation to gain visibility.

But here I am now. My curated article is performing worse than my non-curated articles.

I also don’t understand how curation works. Sometimes I spend an hour writing an article and nothing happens. Sometimes I write an article in 20 minutes and it gets curated.

I have stopped trying to understand curation. I feel like curation is helpful to success but it’s not necessary.

You can become a successful writer without curation as well.

You just need to write good articles. That’s what I have learned so far. If your articles can help people, you will get views.

Patience and persistence are key to becoming a successful writer. You just need to stay focused.

I have stopped thinking about curation. My goal now is to show up every day and publish one article. I am only focusing on the process. And one thing is sure:

I am never giving up. I will become a successful writer one day.

Thanks for reading.
