My Creative Journey

A little bit about myself.

My hunger for creating started early.

My favorite subjects in elementary school were art, technology, and writing. And today, that’s exactly what I am doing. At the age of 12, middle school is when I realized I wanted to pursue animation. I also loved writing, which never went away.

I love storytelling- verbally and visually.

I just graduated from undergrad, with a BFA in character animation and a minor in mass communications. Even though I knew I wanted to pursue animation professionally, I still wanted to explore writing because I’ve always enjoyed it. I took classes such as creative writing and writing for publication. The curriculum bolstered my storytelling skills, which helped me develop my senior thesis film.

For my major, I learned both traditional art skills such as drawing, as well as digital art skills. I gained a variety of experience through my internships- editing promotional videos, designing ebook covers, and 3D modeling artistic designs for children prosthetics. I worked with 15 other artists to produce an animated short film- which at the time of writing was just accepted into its first film festival! I’ve written about the animation pipeline here:

I am still learning to create in multiple mediums.

Pun intended. I am excited to exercise my love of writing and publish more pieces here on Medium and especially at ILLUMINATION- thank you Dr Mehmet Yildiz for this opportunity!

Additionally, I am pursuing an MS in Interactive Entertainment to build on my existing skills. I am teaching myself Python and different 3D programs as I pursue my dream role as a Technical Director. Technical Directors solve challenges using both 3D and coding. I will be able to work in multiple fields- animation, video games, and theme parks to name a few!

I look forward to getting to know you and sharing my experiences and writing with you!
