Taif, Saudi Arabia

If you like history and culture then Taif is your place. But you shouldn’t have height phobia to visit this second highest pace in Saudi Arabia. I’m sure you will never forget the fresh and cool touch of fragrant air. Here you will find the musical sound of wind passing through the old but graceful trees. It has wonderful suburbs to relax and talk to nature. Al-Shafa, a small village at the heights of mountains, offers you magical breezy weather where you forget the noisy city-life.

Shubra Palace was once the summer house of Royal family. Now it is a museum where the historical photos of old Taif are displayed.

There are modern malls in Taif, but I think the best things to buy in Taif are organic fruits. Taif is famous for grapes, pomegranates, watermelons, and sweet berries. Taif is surrounded by agricultural farms, and you can see vendors selling fresh vegetables and fruits at the gates of beautiful mosques.I’m sure you will fall in love with the taste of Taif’s produce.

Another popularity of Taif is its pure rose water and oil created in traditional style. Al-Qahdi is famous and the oldest Rose factory in Taif. This factory operates in spring, when Taif is full of flowers. Pink roses are turned into oil and water for sale. About 25, 000 are used in this process.

Visiting Souk Okaz festival is a unique experience. It has been celebrated for more than a thousand years. Its historic symbolism is the base of Arabic culture. The ancient Arab poets, philosophers, and intellectuals used to gather here to show their love for literature and culture. That ancient literary taste is displayed annually. Visitors enjoy the cultural shows linked to the glorious Arab history.
