Why I’m grateful for My best friends
They say blood is thicker than water, and that’s certainly true, but there are also friends we make throughout our life that become like family to us.
They’re the ones I rely on, confide in and share my deepest secrets with. They’re the ones that know me better than anyone else and accept me for who I am, flaws and all.
Saima, Amna, and Hajra are my best friends, the people I can count on no matter what. They’re the ones who make me laugh when I want to cry.
We’ve been through thick and thin together, and there’s nothing we wouldn’t do for each other. From long talks to shared secrets, my best friends are the family I choose.
I’ve known them for 2 decades, and even though we’ve all grown and changed over the years, our friendship has only strengthened.
No matter where life takes us or what challenges we face, I know we’ll always be there for each other.
They all had different personalities and habits, making them even more special to me.
Saima was the worrier. She was always worried about the tests, assignments, and projects. She used to take tension and gave us tension as well. But Saima has a heart of gold and is always ready to lend a listening ear or a helping hand.
Amna and Hajra were always calm and composed. Always ready to skip a class. They never took their studies seriously but still managed to get good grades.
My best friends are my support system, my rocks and I love them for it.
I remember one time, We were in the 2nd semester of our university. There was this weird new replacement teacher, he was teaching us electrical systems. We were sitting in the corner row.
The desks and benches were set up such that two students could share one desk. So I was sitting with Saima in the front row, and Amna and Hajra were sharing the desk behind us. Hajra asked me something, and I just turned a little bit to answer her, and the next thing I knew was that the teacher was saying it in a thunderous voice. “You 4. Get out of the class.”
I was so embarrassed and just wanted to disappear. I am sure my friends were feeling the same. But the moment we came out of the class and saw each other’s faces, we burst out laughing. That is the kind of bond we share, the ability to make light of any situation.
I know we’ll always have each other to lean on, no matter what life throws at us. I am so grateful to have them in my life, and I cherish our friendship more than anything.
We all live in different corners of the world now and go for long periods without seeing and talking to each other. But when we do finally meet or talk, it’s like we never left each other’s side.
I know our friendship will last a lifetime, and I cherish it more than anything.
