My 5 Most Important Tips For Weight Loss
As Someone who once was 177 Kg, And burned more than 90, you should take a look at them.
Let’s Be Honest. Being healthy is not easy. Aside from a monstrous amount of self-control, discipline and effort you need to have to not fall in all the temptations that lie around, since it always feels like if you slip just one second, the entire progress went to zero,
You still need to adapt your daily agenda for it,
After all, with fitness and health there is not a point of truly done.
It’s a never ending process.
Before I got hooked to a healthy lifestyle, take care of body and mind, to running and everything else.
Most of my life, I was overweight, my maximum weight once was 177Kg, and through a lot of effort, pain and will I burned more than 80 kilos,
you can read more about it here.
During this entire process I learned thousands of things which made me reach where I am today, mindsets, setbacks, lessons and learnings that for sure will help me reach further, but if there is one thing I could put on the top of the list,
It is that I’ve become more honest with myself.
I’ve come to realize that unless we are truly honest with what we want, and fight day-after-day to get there, it won’t happen,
That is a basic rule of life.
So with this small guide, I will show you my 5 hard truths about getting healthier.
Ready to be slapped in the face?
1- Next Monday Doesn’t Exist.
How many times have you started your personal projects on Monday? How many of them lasted until Saturday?
Do you know how I managed to get the hottest girl I have ever dated in my life?
A gorgeous red-haired with pale skin and green eyes completely covered in tattoos, the kind which makes every man and even woman turn the head and freeze when she enters a room? I still can’t believe I’ve done that…
“Girl, If we don’t do this today, you and I know we will probably never meet again, and my heart is already broken”
The Power of Now.
Most people have this idea of needing to prepare for something to happen, the need to get their minds to accept an idea and set in them in right mood to start and achieve something,
The idea there will be a point where you are finally ready to take the action, is an illusion,
You will never be ready,
No one is never ready when they start.
The person who you admire so much and thinks he knows everything about what he does?
He is figuring it out on the way.
The Idea of:
“Now I am not ready, I need to prepare a little bit more, and then I go”, “I need to wait for me to have more money” “more free time”, and all the other excuses we keep telling ourselves.
It’s Bullsh*t.
You won’t have more free time later, actually, you will be even more tired, and probably have less,
You also won’t start next week, because you can’t even plan your next day,
and you won’t achieve later, because you didn’t start now,
That is the basic rule.
The only thing we truly have as mortals, is the Now.
The present,
Our future is just an outcome of our actions in the present.
You don’t need to stop eating sugar next week, You don’t need to stop smoking next month, you also don’t need to start your training or working out on Monday.
You need to do it now, because if you don’t, you probably won’t do after, that is just a lie to keep in your comfort zone.
After all, next Monday doesn’t even exist.
2- No One Will Take Your Hand And Treat You Like a Baby.
There are people who love you, right?
At least, I hope so.
Do you know what these people love more than you?
Themselves.
If you still waiting for a miracle or the next “Savior Lord” come and take you out of the sh*t hole you are in, you’ll die there,
Sorry to say, but it’s the truth.
Stop thinking there will be an amazing person who will enter your life as a partner, mentor, job, business or whatever to make your life easier and better.
You are this person.
Start getting out of there by yourself, start building by yourself, do it by yourself and because of yourself.
Stop now with this victim mentality,
A victim is always on the negative side of things, always on the suffering end.
Don’t wait for other people.
Walk alone.
or at least start alone, and people who are going the same way will join in the path,
But please stop thinking you deserve something more if you don’t do more,
life is not fair, You are not a special snowflake, You don’t deserve anything else more than all others, if you are reading this, you are probably luckier already,
but still you are just another lone soul in the middle of billions,
and aside from very few close people you have around you,
(these must be the ones you truly care and value)
99.99% of people out here don’t give a single sh*t about you.
Swallow your pride and go take care of yourself for yourself, not for any other reason,
Because if above all the others, you don’t care about yourself first,
No one ever will.
3- Building Muscle and Losing Weight Are Wrong Reasons.
I spoke about this deeper in here if you are interested:
but, stop chasing those, you will never achieve anything, if you just want to “lose weight and gain muscle”
The only reason you want to lose weight and look skinnier, or more “packed” is because the media or someone else told you that, and because you compare yourself to someone else.
If you start comparing yourself today, to your past-self, the only thing you will ever aspire to be, is to be better than you were.
Honestly It doesn’t even make any sense to aspire for any of those, trust me, as a former ball of fat, who always wanted to look hot, those two things will never sustain your change, they are weak pillars to build health.
What you need to build a healthier lifestyle ,
to break old self sabotage cycles by creating habits and making actions which will take you closer to the best version of yourself, to the version you want to achieve,
Your fittest one,
And I can guarantee it is not just about weight and muscle.
It is mainly about the mind.
4- Your Eating Habits Will Define You.
Have you ever heard the sentence “you are what you eat”?
Although I prefer “You are what you Consume”, because then it applies to every aspect instead of just food.
I think it would be hypocritical to speak about getting healthier without speaking about food and nutrition.
I Won’t go really deeper in here, because I’ve become a freak about this and if I start speaking, this article will be 30 min read,
but after burning more than 90 kilos from my body, and on the process trying most of the existing diets out there,
I can tell you this:
If your only objective is to lose weight, it really doesn’t matter what you eat, you just need to be in a calorie deficit.
Calorie Deficit is when you spend more calories than you consume,
Losing weight actually is 4th grade math, addition and subtraction.
Even if you do stay in calorie deficit and only eat junk, you will lose weight,
but you don’t need to be a genius to realize you won’t be the best example of health right?
People normally have this crazy idea of what they can and can not eat while trying to get in shape,
Honestly?
It doesn’t matter, as long as you have a balanced diet, control your emotional eating, and avoid the maximum you can processed and only sugar foods, you will be good.
I have a few very simple rules I follow about what I eat and it makes huge impact, maybe you can use.
- Food is not fuel for the mind.
(This is my mindset to deal with emotional eating, you can read about it here)
- The less processes there are on ingredients, the healthier it will be the food.
Doesn’t matter if it’s industrial processes, preparing processes, cooking processes, or any kind of process, the rule is simple, the less the better,
Be raw.
- Resist The Ritual Trigger.
Do You know when you finish having lunch and feel an insane craving and urge for sugar or even a coffe?
That’s what I call ritual trigger, you need to have the dessert, or the coffe (sometimes a cigarette) to simbolize and tell your brain you have finished the meal, to feel “complete”.
It’s literally like a ritualistic consumption, you just do it because of the habit, no other reason.
Don’t do it, it’s bad,
and honestly, you never need the Ritual Trigger.
5- You Either Do or Don’t, The consequences Will Arrive Later.
This last one is pretty self-explanatory,
something that no one should need to read from a random guy to get conscious about it, but it looks like people tend to forget.
In the same way we spoke on point 1,
The future is all an outcome of our present.
And we are mortal beings, our body is decaying and dying since the moment we were born, even faster after a certain age, and it won’t be able to rebuild the cells and renew itself in the way it happens when we are young.
Most of us spend our 20’s in a way that is not healthy, partying, drinking, drugs, and all of this, Most of us literally neglect our body health and do everything in the opposite direction, and there is actually zero problem on doing this, I mean, we are young and dumb, and also 100% free to choose how do we act,
But we are not free from the consequence.
I Don’t know about you, you can tell me in the comments, but I actually never really planned on how I intend to get old,
But if there is one thing I can assure,
Is that I will be way healthier than what I was on my 20’s,
all because of the decisions I am taking today.
Are you able to say the same, or the complete opposite?
Don’t neglect your health now, your future-self will thank you.
