Moving From Disappointment To A Joyous Memorable Evening

In response to Prompt 52/52 of Dancing Elephants Press

Plan to go to a flower show

I love to make memories of my happy and joyous days and forget the sad days that are unpleasant.

I wanted to walk down my memories and I remembered that I had gone to a flower show which I had really missed because no one wanted to accompany me on that day.

Most of my friends were busy or not willing because of the excessive traffic on that particular day.

I called up one friend and asked her if she would be willing to come with me.

She said, “I never ever say no to you but today I am so tied up with a commitment so let us go tomorrow.”

Unfortunately, the flower show was ending on that particular day.

Another friend, “There is construction going on there on the Metro train track and there is too much traffic over there so let us forget it.”

I called up a third friend and again she refused that she could not join me as she was going to watch a movie. To watch a movie so we could go the next day.

All three friends wanted to go the next day and there was no next day.

I was disappointed but there was hope that somewhere the sun would shine and I would manage to go.

It is strange that I did not want to go alone and wanted to go along with a friend for this show. I decided to muster up the courage and plan to see it even if I had to go alone.

I questioned myself. Shall I go or shall I not go? There was traffic. There was construction, and the weather was not good but what was holding me back? Should this bother me? Why did I have hope if I was not going to even try to achieve what I wanted to do?

In the meanwhile, the phone rang and it’s shrill cut across my thoughts. It was a friend calling. She was upset. “What happened I said.”

“You haven’t called in a while and now you are not responding to my call. The bell has rung for so long and I called twice”, she went on in a huff.

“Sorry my dear, I was caught up in my thoughts, I am planning to go to a flower show”. I dared not ask her to accompany me for fear of refusal.

“Is someone going along”, she asked.

“No”, I said.

“She would love to join me”, she said.

My disappointment turned into joy. I even told her there was construction activity over there. She asked me to reach her house and she would make arrangements from there.

I had lunch and immediately went to her home. Since she has a driver as she cannot drive, it was so much easier to reach the venue.

At the venue

As we entered we were greeted by the marigold tree. It was the season of marigolds and there were so many beautiful things made by the flowers. The tree took my breath away.

The tree above was a promise of hope, joy, and faith.

I spent a lot of time looking at this tree. It infused life and joy and brought in energy.

Animal section

I am going to put some pictures of animals made with flowers. You will see how beautiful they were.

The Leopard

The first thing in the animal section was the leopard made with marigolds. You can see for yourself how well it was made. It was awarded the first prize.

The Rabbit

The next one was the rabbit dressed up in marigolds too. The bunny looked so cute. All the children were enthralled and flocking to see it.

The Camel

The camel was again sunshine yellow. The hope of sunshine that I had at home sitting desolately soon came alive with these nice bright yellows in the flower show.

Although there were many more, I wanted to display the peacock which is the national bird of India

Since Marigold was the highlight of the day there were some used on the peacock as well. The peacock was displayed right in the center and it was much admired by all.

To wrap up

What do you think? Was this not a memorable evening? Hope, love, sunshine and joy. I got everything there.

When my friends saw these pictures the next day all of them were full of remorse that we missed this beautiful evening. They asked me if there was an indication of the show being extended, I told them that the show had ended but I had a joyous memory.

If I had not gone that day this beautiful evening would not be there. Now I am happy that the hope and joy of the memory will always be there.

Thank you Gabriella for the final 52-week prompt. I could not help but delve down and remember the evening which turned out to be so memorable.
