Monsoon season is officially over in Korea but…
As the monsoon season officially bids us farewell, don’t stow away your umbrellas just yet!
The rainy days may not be fully behind us, according to a recent briefing held by the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA).
A weather expert from KMA shared that the climatic indicators point to the conclusion of this year’s monsoon season for Jeju Island, as well as the southern and central regions of Korea.
However, this doesn’t signify an end to the summer showers.
The head of KMA has cautioned the public to stay alert.
In recent years, the KMA has seen a shift in Korea’s summer precipitation patterns.
Despite the monsoon season winding down, Korea could still experience heavy rainfall due to factors like typhoons or concentrated rainstorms.
Additionally, depending on the paths of incoming typhoons, the country may brace for torrential downpours and strong winds in early August.
But once we bid a final adieu to the raindrops, get ready to embrace the sizzling summer heat.
With the monsoon curtains drawn, we can expect temperatures to soar to 33 degrees Celsius (91.4 degrees Fahrenheit) or higher, signaling the arrival of those sweltering summer days and weeks.
