Monsoon season is coming to Korea from 25 June 2023
Brace yourself as the monsoon season is just around the corner, heading our way from June 25, 2023, according to the weather agency’s prediction.
Before the monsoon arrives, we can expect clear and sunny days until Saturday.
This is thanks to something called a migrating anticyclone, where winds circulate a central region of high atmospheric pressure.
As the North Pacific High starts moving northward from Sunday, a stationary front that stretches across northern Taiwan and the southern coast of Japan will also shift northward, nearing the Korean Peninsula.
From Sunday to Tuesday, rain is forecasted to spread across the country as an atmospheric depression forms along this stationary front.
Sunday will likely bring rain to Jeju Island and the southern region, while the central region can expect rainfall starting from Monday.
The Korea Meteorological Administration also mentioned the possibility of rain returning nationwide on 29 & 30 June 2023.
In light of this forecast, everyone should prepare in advance for potential flood damage.
