Meercats R Us!

I could have been anywhere while gazing through the Virginia Creeper archway at doggo by the shed. It was magical with the morning sun shining through the leaves. Doggo and I stared at each other for a long second before a cat dashed over the shed roof, distracting PupperJack and ruining the moment.
I think this was the last morning that wasn’t downright freezing so we enjoyed the rays of sun while there were some.
We don’t do that now. I open the back door — he jumps out, breathes in a lungful of freezing cold air and jumps back in again. Then I have to insist he goes out again. He does, after all, have an inbuilt fur coat. He should be able to go out for a quick garden-visit without suffering with hypothermia, whatever he says.
It’s been a bit of a varied, almost frenzied week, but we still called into the graveyard for a quick trip around a few friends. Autumn has changed the colour of a few of the trees in the graveyard.
But most of the trees are evergreen. And the evergreens, in this case, the holly and the yew trees, think it’s winter rather than autumn. There were a lot of squirrels running around which made our visit not at all relaxing because PupperJack wanted to, uh, ‘greet’ them all.
Above left is a meercat we visited pre-covid. Above right is PupperJack when I look at him and say in a meaningful tone of voice: “Meercat, Jack!”
He’s got it exactly!
This doggo made a gingerbread doghouse every year. I was reminded of it because it turns out that 10th October is National Cake Decorating Day. So — if you’re going to decorate a cake, go the whole dog and decorate a house!
The nightlife is getting a bit hectic as October goes on.
