Miracles on the Road: It happened in El Reno, Oklahoma
I heard it loud and clear — in my head

It was my second day back on the road after having taken a break to celebrate my son’s birthday. I had arrived in Oklahoma City the morning before, and after collecting my belongings from the friends who were holding it safe, I walked to Yukon, OK.
I spent the night at someone’s house that I had connected with using the Couchsurfing app. I was on the road the next morning, heading to El Reno as my next stop. I was #WalkingRoute66.
The plan was to find the fire station in El Reno and see if I can spend the night on their lawn as I had done previously in a few small towns. Google Maps messed up big time and took me to a deserted area with abandoned buildings.
I backtracked towards town. I saw the mural that you see in the photo above to take a picture. There was a gentleman on the side of the road working under the hood of his car. As I walked past him, I got an inclination to talk to him.
I told him about my unusual road trip — how often does someone push a baby stroller across Route 66. I asked him if I can unfurl my sleeping bag in his back yard and crash for the night. He said he didn’t have a back yard, but I was welcome to use his front lawn, what little he had.
I was grateful for having listened to the inclination and said a silent prayer of gratitude for the place to sleep for the night. That’s when I heard it, as clear as it can be. “You will have a place to sleep every night of the trip, so stop worrying.” I felt the calm take over my entire being. It was as if I was drenched in bliss.
Needless to say, there was a place for me to sleep every night for the next three months. Strangers invited me to spend the night in their homes. People paid for my stay at motels, and I even had a National park ranger drive me a few miles to the nearest truck stop because the park was closed for the night.
When I shared my experience on Facebook, one of my followers, who was keeping up with my travels, said, “Rest assured that you will have a shelter every night for the rest of your life.”
Do you listen to the silent voices of your intuition? We all have an undeniable connection to the Source of the Universe, regardless of what we choose to call it, and whether we acknowledge it or not.
Have you ever had an experience where the voice wasn’t silent but as clear and audible as it can be? I would love to hear from you.
