MINDSET — CONNECTING
No Understanding, Please!
Don’t try to understand, it’s not helpful.
When understanding gets in the way.
I’m too soft You’re too loud
When you stop talking I start asking
Asking our daughter what makes her eyes shine what makes her feel fine
You ask to understand You, loud you, want to understand
She doesn’t know She speaks soft and shy
I ask so she understands her decision to move again
She talks about her gut and feeling how she must listen, leave, and trust
The impact is vague yet, her smile is clear
You explain It’s so much easier to stay
You don’t understand her She doesn’t understand you
Why can’t you trust her? Without understanding how it works
For me and her, smiles and gut feelings are key to life For you, her father with mathematical blood, those keys aren’t keys
to understand, so you keep asking
Give up the loudness, start being soft what more do you want than
No matter where she wants to live, seeing your daughter’s eyes shine?
