Mindfulness & Meditation Retreat.
FIVE Key Takeaways for consideration and reflection…
Having spent the past week on a silent meditation retreat, I am still reflecting on what the experience taught me and what information is helpful to pass on.
I relished the keeping of noble silence and found it helpful up until the point when I decided it no longer suited me because I wanted to have a good old chitchat with the interesting woman living in the next room. I didn’t of course. She probably had no interest in talking to me anyway, she was very good at averting her gaze. Discipline is good, routine is good, living simply is good but it’s when the mind and body start to rebel that we find out just how weak or strong we really are.
In the process I discovered that my body was weaker than I thought but that my mind was stronger. I learnt some helpful additions to my practice and too many truths about my habits and views. These will be things for me to personally work on over the coming days and weeks but I will endeavour to share more of my experience in due course.
In the meantime, I would like to offer up these five things for consideration and reflection. They may look simple but do not take them lightly:
FIVE Key Takeaways:
- be content with who you are and what you have
- no thing and no place is better than where you are now
- you already have everything you need within you including the answers to all your questions
- you don’t need the results you think you do
- be kinder to yourself — you are amazing just as you are
May this teaching lead you to happiness; may it help you grow in truth. May you be freed from the suffering of birth and death.
