26th January is not just two words, it’s an emotional expression of India turning into a republic. The Indian Constitution got enacted in November 1949 and came into effect on 26th Jan 1950 marking Republic day. For some, the idea of freedom was transient and lucid. It was not defined into proportional boxes. On the same day, we also have the Indian National Congress, the publicly elected Govt of India proclaiming the ‘declaration of independence’. Hence, Republic day for India is also another Independence day.

This was a different kind of independence. An Independence that did not deliberately mean freedom from external Colonizers but a freedom internally to dissipate and break hierarchies and divisions, merge them into an all-encompassing identity while celebrating their differences as Indians. The govt will serve each living being, rich or poor, good or bad, moral or immoral, minority or majority; make institutions supreme that keeps the agency and powerplay of Govt in check and upholds the will of the people.

Republic Day, just like Independence day is a celebration of our country. Schools often hoist flags and provide avenues for students of all classes to say out loud a Republic day speech. I will also share with you some tips on how to draft the speech material and make it inspiring, assisting you in knowing what you should add and what not. These speech ideas are for both school and college-going students. So let’s go through some of these ideas.

Republic day speech ideas for students of smaller classes (especially 5th to 8th grade)

I am assuming you are a parent and your child is bickering you with this speech. You must have been out of options, you finally landed in this article, to write a speech. Well, let me give you a tip on two to three things about the speech for you to keep in mind.

Important pointers for the speech

  • Try maintaining an easy tone.
  • Do not go too deep into facts
  • Ask your young one to opine even if it’s silly.

An easy tone is actually the easy syntax application of the language used, in this case, English. You have to use shorter sentences and mention three to four important facts. Mention the spirit of the constitution and its history. Ask your child what kind of India they envision on this eve of India celebrating its 74th republic day. How do they see themselves and their roles in the future? Just jot down their responses in the last sections of the speech. This will help them imbibe true ideas about equality, fraternity, and liberty. Before letting them opine also make them read the preamble of the constitution. It’s a very important part of the Indian constitution and lets them express themselves on their interpretation of these themes. No matter how childish it sounds.

Example Speech

“Good morning to everyone present over here. Today I stand before you to speak on one of the most important days of our yearly calendar, Republic Day. Republic Day celebrated on 26th January is when our constitution came into effect. On 26th August 1947, right after independence, Constituent Drafting Committee was formed to foresee the creation of a Constitution under the chairmanship of Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar. After months of work, the constitutional draft was tabled on 4th November 1947.

Deliberations were made, adoptions of various clauses were taken into consideration and after 2 years 11 months, and 18 days, the Constitution’s two draft copies both in Hindi and English were signed on 24th January 1950. The adoption of the constitution was done on 26th January 1950. For me, Constitution says every person has a fundamental right. The right against exploitation is important. Tear roll from my eyes when I see a hungry young child working in tea stalls. I wish this right becomes more prominent among people and specifically for the hungry young child who does not go to school and works as a laborer instead.”

Republic day speech ideas for students of elder classes and College students

Unlike your younger student counterpart, you can think of framing a speech that is more exploratory and looks at the surface of things more broadly. You can mention certain evolutionary ideas that should have been part of the Indian milieu right after the constitution came into effect. You can prepare your speech with more analytics. Give your sense opinion of things. Here are some tips you can remember while saying your speech:

Important pointers for the speech

  • Use dramatic pauses to help the audience reflect on those moments.
  • Try to reflect on challenges to avail the constitution.
  • Celebratory ideas of rules and merits with culture and diversity.
  • Constitution and its effects on you at a personal level.

The magnitude of your speech and the enormous power it holds and can exercise is phenomenal. Use pauses to speak more from your tonality alongside the beauty of words. Try mentioning the hard-earned freedom and How you respect our brave freedom fighters for depriving themselves of their life for the country. You can talk of celebrating India as a republic by showing 7 regiments, and 12 paramilitary forces marching from Rashtrapati Bhavan to India Gate in the Republic Day Parade. And also mention an instance where the constitution has affected you on a personal level. Talk about the ideas of the constitution and their effects on your expression. In a hierarchical sectional society like India, How do people become more open and accepting, become more interspersal, inclusive, and easy to be mixed, talk about that.

For elder students, draft a speech on your own. It’s time that you learn to ideate, opine, and express yourself. I am pretty sure you will do a wonderful job. Just make sure to keep the tips in mind while forming your speech.

Republic day speech for every citizen of India

It is stated that expression is the real form of repute. For every Indian whether a girl, Dalit (lower caste person), or for that matter an upper caste, a minority the way they are Indian could not have been possible if devoid of any constitutional right. The structures of inclusivity are what the nation expects from us. And with a constrained bottleneck situation we blossom in the expansive outgrowths of understanding unison in multiplicities.

To keep the spirit alive here goes a treat for my Country being governed under an inclusive constitution, a speech from me, a unit in this unity of multiplicities representing my readers to bow down to the freedom fighters that had so much grit to build India United and its exceptional Constitution.

“Hello, everyone, yes you, the reader I am talking to you. There is always going to be a haze in your head about the person you are. About the personalities, you reveal with time. Each is different from the last recorded one. We become attuned to such characteristics when we become malleable to internal cohesion. We adapt to think rationally. Similarly, people and their choices now whether they want to become a company of community A or B, however maximal it sounds depends on the societal ethos that they are brought about in.

The sense of the term ‘unity’ is not just an umbrella term for the ‘multiple castes, creeds, and even genders of India’, Its a contract of shaping legal and personal associations with each other. With each passing time, the constitutional commitment demands an attitude to not shackle the structures of origin of the country ‘India’ which is a modern geographical and separate political construct different from Indic Civilization with multiple strengthening empires. The difference has to be maintained to understand the different themes involving both.

The other aspect of my speech will be the Preamble which shapes the basis of our country, its ideological leanings, and the vision of the founding fathers, How does it fare in the current sociopolitical climate,

The preamble reads, “We, the people of India, having solemnly resolved to constitute India into a sovereign socialist secular democratic republic and to secure to all its citizens: justice, social, economic, and political liberty of thought, expression, belief, faith, and worship; equality of status and opportunity and to promote among them all fraternity assuring the dignity of the individual and the unity and integrity of the nation; in our constituent assembly this twenty-sixth day of November 1949, do hereby adopt, enact and give to ourselves this constitution.”

The first line of the preamble shows the formation of India under a sovereign socialist secular democratic republic. Can we say that either of these traits exists, Sovereignty needs to be an equitable right. How has a farmer adjusted his sovereignty as he is exploited time and time again? Why does sovereignty not come to the Tailor father who wants to send his bright in-school son to a good coaching institution for JEE preparation and if the son fails, that will be the end of his life, Why is his son not been able to get a dignity driven coaching equitable facility to secure his dream for IIT. How do we account for sovereignty in that context?

Isn’t secularism a nonexistential feature in the country, as the communities are each up in arms? In Garba there is an atrocity, In Christmas, there is an atrocity, why? How can this be a secular space where identity politics in exercised by choice blatantly? Rich and Poor extremes have already trampled socialist temperaments.

The next set of ideas fixates on liberty, dignity, and integrity. Liberty is enjoyed by powerful Indian elites and movie and soap opera stars on Ekta Kapoor’s shows, I mean with such bad CGI, the limits of the Indian version of liberty should only be compared to that levels of substandardness. Integrity is gone the moment identity transformations became a political tool. Dignity can be best determined by How we visualize and treat the poor and our farmers. A snapshot of it was evident in the Farmer’s protest.

Despite all these pitfalls we have to stand strong and just move ahead for sake of all our brave and powerful leaders, For the enormous thought that went into making women, and men of lower strata, equally participators in all avenues of society through this wonderful constitution”
