In the Universe Darkness and Light Collide.

The rose petals above are from one of the rose bushes by my house. These are the most amazing roses. The roses are fragrant and have a beautiful deep maroon color. I saw the fallen petals and wanted to create something with them. During my walk I found a few fallen flowers from a fuchsia plant. I am not sure why I just started to pick them up holding them in my hand and looking around the garden.

After a minute or so I started to arrange the petals and flowers. The picture above shows what I come up with. It is simple, yet every time I walk by or look at this picture I catch myself with a smile. It makes me feel good and brings moments of joy into my life.

In case you wondering. I am now smiling. Even writing about this brings me a smile.

These flowers and petals once were all connected to a plant that started from a seed or root and created something magical and beautiful on this earth. I remember the beautiful rose blooms and the fuchsia baskets as they started to flourish in the summer and continued throughout the fall.

Now, with winter approaching the flowers are falling. Their glory is gone. The roots are still connected and the fallen rose petals and fuchsia flowers are here to tell us a story. A story of beauty, a story of glory. Seeing the beautiful parts of nature on the ground I wanted to hold these gentle petals and flowers and create something from them that still brings joy, and lovely memories into my day.

I am connected to these flowers, plants, nature as much as I am connected to people and animals. In our lives we have many moments that bring joyful memories.

I had a lot of people passing on around me in the last few weeks. It has been hard. Focusing on the memories and moments that brought joy into my life brings the powerful moments of connection back and helps the sorrow of the loss fade away just like the flower petals falling down onto the ground.

Even from sorrow we can create something beautiful. Creating something new: A new memory that brings joy. Planting a beautiful tree, a rose bush in memory of those that are gone from this world. Bringing people together and remembering those we care about, celebrating life is important to me.

Keeping the connections going brings calmness and hope into my heart.
