Writing Prompts: Memories Are Material
Jump-start your creative flow with some prompts that nudge you to dive into your past

Hi, writers! We’re so glad you’re here. If you’re reading this, you may also be interested in our upcoming Creator Workshops, which are free and open to everyone. Check them out:
THIS WEEK’S PROMPTS
Here are some prompt ideas from me and my colleague Harris Sockel. (We’re a little obsessed with writing.) Remember there’s no one right or wrong away to address these!
What’s something you regret saying?
What would happen if you said it again, but the right way, to whoever you need to say it to?
What’s your earliest memory of being alone?
Did “being alone” turn into loneliness? Or did you learn to like being by yourself?
If you could choose to forget one memory, which one would it be?
Why? What would change?
Write whatever these prompts inspire — whether that’s creative nonfiction, fiction, poetry, or something else — and post it on Medium. Tag it #Writehere so we can all find each others’ work. Now, go forth and write (and read! A scroll through the #Writehere pieces is always a good time).
QUESTIONS ABOUT WRITE HERE?
Leave them in the responses and we will try to address them all. And don’t forget to check back here every Monday for new prompts and tips.
