The Fortune Teller | New Orleans, Present Day
Meeting at the Crossroads
In search of Robert Johnson on the Blues Trail

I went to the crossroad, fell down on my knees I went to the crossroad, fell down on my knees Asked the Lord above, “Have mercy, now, save poor Bob if you please.”
Robert Johnson
Wrong story here, y’all
The bargain at the crossroads
Music saves my soul
Granny Weaver had told her the time was not right for them to settle in Haven. There was a special child there, and Granny was afraid that their presence would put the child in even more danger.
Granny was right. The wolves always found her if she lingered anywhere too long. She and Ronan would travel the music trails for a few years, New Orleans, Memphis, Nashville, and the entire state of Mississippi. He would age. She would not.
Then they will return to Haven, make a home, and reunite with allies and friends. There will be a reckoning there. She hopes that at last, she will find her story’s ending.
It all depended on the young girl, for Granny had told her that their destinies were interwoven.
Penelope
This is a former fortune teller, named Penelope at this point in the 21st century. A combination of a curse and her own powers has allowed her to live many centuries and travel all over the world. She and her young lover, Ronan, are traveling to New Orleans.
This is where she found her traveling companion.
Legend has it that Johnson took his guitar to the crossroads of Highways 49 and 61 in Clarksdale, Mississippi where the devil retuned his instrument in exchange for his soul. He returned with a formidable technique and a mastery of the blues.
For more than a century, the Mississippi Delta has been the emotional heart of it all. More famous blues musicians have come from this area than any other region (or state for that matter) combined. Today, you can still feel the authentic vibe of Mississippi Delta blues history. From birthplace homes to the gravestones of legends, a road trip through the Delta will open your eyes to the people, places and energy that inspired the sounds of rock n’ roll, soul, jazz, country music and some of the most famous blues musicians known to man.
