Medium Has Launched a New ‘Minimum Guarantee’ Program
Know in detail about the new writer program offered by Medium for their Partner Program Writers
After getting so many complaints from Partner Program Writers, Medium decided to bring a change on the platform. The first change which we writers experienced in the month of April was a cash bonus of $500 to Top 1k writers. Medium said that it was a surprise to our writers and the response that we received was really enthusiastic.
They realized that they had been paying or spending thousands of dollars on hundreds of publications. But that was of no use. They were earlier working on this philosophy —
“Spend on publication to serve the best content to paid readers”
But, this philosophy for growing the global platform failed. Editors were happy and writers were in a depression. But, the cash bonus program really motivated all sleepy writers to write more and serve the best. Medium understood that they have to invest in writers not in Publication’s editors if they want to grow. So, next month in May, they closed down almost 15–20 publications to save their money to invest in writers.
In May, they too distributed cash bonuses. But, this time they were more confident of the result. So, they distributed bonuses of $500, $100, and $50 to Top 2k writers. This attracted more writers to join the Medium. But, unfortunately, they have decided to close this program in July. This is what they have said in their recent mail to their writers —
“The bonus program will run through June and July. The last bonuses will be given in conjunction with July Partner Program payouts, which will happen the first week of August.”
But, this is not the end. They have said something more as well in the mail —
“In August, we’ll announce more writer programs and Partner Program updates. In the meantime, thank you for all that you bring to our vibrant community — we can’t wait to see what you write this summer!’’
So, they are not going to finish this act of getting Heaven! May Allah grant them Paradise for their great social work!
As they told that they are going to announce more writer programs in August, they have already launched a new program known as Minimum Guarantee.
What is a Minimum Guarantee?
With the context to MPP, Meaning Guarantee means a minimum amount that has to be paid to the writer for their work per month irrespective of views and other engagement metrics. This program is in beta version and it is started in June in which they have paid a minimum amount of $200 each qualified writer.
How to Qualify for Minimum Guarantee?
If you get qualified for this program, you will get free from the stress of fluctuating engagements. But, getting qualified for this program is not easy. This is available to selected writers only. If you are a technical writer(Sorry, if you aren’t), you will receive or have received an exclusive email from the Vice President of Medium — Scott Lamb.
That email would contain a contract with various terms. If you agree to all those terms and signed the contract, then, you will receive 200$ directly into your MPP dashboard. That’s all! It’s done.
This is a contract-based program and very few writers have been selected for it. An Indian writer(Abhay Parashar) shared this image on Facebook. He has been qualified and has also signed the contract with Scott Lamb.
Final Thoughts
This program is not available to everyone but, I hope that they will surely launch new and exciting updates in August for writers. And, that will not be invitation-only programs. Everybody will have access to it. But, for now, we should work on the next bonus.
