An Indian Boy of 16 Years is Earning $3k a Month

Know, how a 16 year old boy from India is making $3k per month from his online startup which he began just few years ago

Umer Qureshi

‘Age is just a number which has nothing to do with a person’s ability’

Making money is really not an easy job. It becomes even tougher when you are a beginner, less-experienced, unskilled, knowing very little about the world, and also when you are below 18. But, there are many people in this world who have achieved what they desired in their life, instead of being a minor, or below eighteen.

Umer Qureshi was one such boy who had to fight these hurdles to attain success and he really struggled. Now he has set an example for everyone.

Umer Qureshi is a 16 year old boy who was born in the capital city Delhi, of India. He belongs to a middle-class family. But, his life was not as normal as other children.

He was very fat and everyone used to make fun of him. Umer explained in Josh Talk (a media house running in India) that his colony friends used to call him insulting names.

Some called him Fatty, some called him an elephant, and so on. That’s not all. Some even suggested he would not be able to do anything in his life because he was not good at his studies. His teacher also did not like him because he used to sleep while in class.

All those dirty, and demotivating, and heartbreaking comments from society, broke him. He started to suffer from stress, depression, tension, and lack of confidence.

He started to avoid people. He stopped meeting his friends. He even stopped going out.

Now, his family members also started to think the same as others. They also started to taunt him. They called him lazy and worthless. It increased his stress and depression. He was fully demotivated and mentally disturbed.

He was tired of all those ruthless comments. He wanted to live his life as normal children do. His self-respect was lost somewhere and he wanted to reacquire it. He was ready to do anything to regain respect. He thought that if he started to make money as his elders did, he would get his self-respect back.

So, he moved out then. At the age of 12, he moved out of his home for his mission. He went to a cyber café and requested the manager teach him how to use a computer. At that time, he did not know how to use the computer. He thought if he learned, society would pay respect to him and would no longer call him with disgusting names.

He asked the manager to teach him something related to computers. But, the cybercafe people asked to pay the fees for teaching him all that. He asked him for a job so that he could pay. Cyber Cafe people denied him a job as in India, it is illegal to hire children of below 14 in shops and factories.

He went to all other nearby cyber cafes for a job but all of them refused. It was because of the Child Labor Act of India. And, finally, he failed in his plan and again fell into depression.

Then, the remarkable year of 2017 came in India. Before 2017, Indians could not afford to buy even 1 GB of the Internet. In 2017, Reliance Jio again entered the telecom market with new 4G technology. They launched the offer of free unlimited 4G data. Absolutely free. It revolutionized the whole Indian telecom market. Reliance Jio is the company of Asia’s richest man, Mukesh Ambani. They gave unlimited 4G data to all Indians for nearly 6 months. Internet in India was at boom. Everyone was willing to take benefit from free Internet. Around 360 million Indians took advantage of it. Umer was one of them.

Ramazan arrived with God’s blessings for Umer at the time when free data was on a rise. Umer and his brothers and sisters decided to gift a smartphone to their Mom at the upcoming Eid-al-Fitr. They all pooled their pocket money to buy the gift. Ramzan was gone and Eid came along with happiness and joyfulness. Umer and all his brothers and sisters gifted their loving mom a smartphone.

With Eid gone, everything was back to normal, but Umer was still not happy. He had a mobile phone of his mother which she did not use. Neither his brothers and sisters used it. It was only Umer who used it to learn new things.

One day, he was watching a video of his favorite creator in which some ways of earning from home were discussed. YouTubing was one of them. He got the idea that money can be earned from anywhere. So, he went on his mission. He took the camera and mobile and started recording videos. He was not a professional. He also did not have a suitable space to record videos. Sometimes, he recorded in the toilet. He worked hard made more than 3+ channels but failed. Also, he did not get support from his family.

He was indeed unsuccessful in his first attempt to establish an online career. But, failure did not deter him. He kept on trying, trying to learn new things and discovering new ways to set up an online career.

He got the idea of earning and setting an online startup. The idea was affiliate marketing. Affiliate Marketing has made many people a Bill Gates in India. But, for starting affiliate marketing, he needed some resources like a website which requires domain, hosting, and a lot of time and effort. Domain and other tools which he needed were not free in the market. He needed some money to buy them.

So, he went to his dad. He just told him that he needed $20. His father asked him why he needed money. Umer replied he did not know, he just wanted 20 dollars. His father was supportive and he gave him the money, but in return, Umer had to forego his upcoming birthday party. He used the money to buy all the necessary resources.

Sadly, he failed again. But, he did not give up.

Umer was not in the mood to quit. He wanted to invest some more money to learn about the online world. So, again he went ahead, but this time he did not ask his father for money. Instead, he swiped his father’s card. A message came confirming the transaction. He deleted it so nobody could know about this. He knew that if his father got to know about this, he would beat him with a leather belt, a common punishment for children.

He learned so many things from this course. He implemented all his knowledge in his work. He worked hard day and night, and finally, he was successful. He received his first payment. It was $1.00. It was a virtual currency. He was so happy.

But, he was nervous to show it to his family because it was not real. Also, it was only one dollar which could be earned very easily. He kept it a secret, and kept moving forward.

He still wanted to learn. This time, he wanted to meet people with expertise in online business.

Saurabh Bhatnagar is a famous mentor in India who organizes webinars in different parts of the country. He was to organize an event in Goa, which is 2000 km away from his city. The event was not free. Its cost was $150 which is a great sum in India.

He could not even swipe this time, so, he directly told his father that he wanted to attend a mega webinar in Delhi which costs $150.00. His father agreed. But, his mother did not. When she was informed, she slapped Umer and gave him a long lecture. He insisted on $150.00 but, his mother changed the game and he did not get anything. The mega webinar was gone. He was upset.

But, God was there to help him. Saurabh Bhatnagar again organized an event in his own city. This time, he did not want to miss the chance. He again needed 150 dollars. This time, he had $350.00 which was to arrive at his bank after the four days of the event. He did not dare to ask for money from his family. Luckily, one of his friends helped him.

On the day of the event, he went out of his home in the early morning without informing anyone. He reached his home late night from the event. His parents scolded him a lot for this. But, they started to believe in Umar because of his spirit and they permitted him to attend the event. He told them that it was free.

The next day, he went to the event, learned many new things, met new people in this field. The event was gone. The time came to repay the money. He paid the loan to his friend and the rest of the money, he gave to his parents. His parents took it happily and said some good words to Umer.

Umer wanted to grow and take his business to a new level. He implemented all his knowledge in his digital career and finally, he became a successful Affiliate Marketer. His turnover reached the value of $65k. A boy of just 16 years is now earning $3k a month and $65k a year.

The people who used to call him disgusting names, now call him by his own name. He finally achieved respect.

Umer is not only running affiliate marketing but also an SEO agency in the United Kingdom. He is also the founder of Umerqureshiuniversity.com where 5k students are learning about online entrepreneurship and teaching other people the same.

Umer has really proved this saying true that —

‘Age is just a number which has nothing to do with one’s ability’
